    • Cellular signals or other wireless signals/messages are introduced into a building or to an outside location by transmitting packets corresponding to those signals over a data network and low cost cables to designated locations within the data network. Once the designated packets containing the signals reach the destination, they are then broadcast over the air to a terminal capable of receiving the wireless message. In a first embodiment, an in-building gigabit Ethernet network, such as that currently existing presently in many buildings, is used to distribute radio signals indoors. Instead of transmitting the radio signals over the air from a repeater connected to a base station, coded baseband signals generated by the coding processor (e.g., a CDMA Modem Unit) in the base station are packetized and sent over the Ethernet network to radio processing equipment and antennas distributed throughout the building. The radio processing equipment strips the packet headers from the baseband signal packets so those signals can be broadcast via the antennas to one or more mobile terminals.

    • A method for the selective removal of corneal tissue, and change of curvature thereof, for refractive vision correction, by means of a correction template in conjunction with a planar cutting high pressure water jet micro-keratome. The correction template is adapted to provide a planar cutting guide, on the corneal tissue, for the refractive correction required, with the template being shaped with a non-planar surface of predetermined configuration (related to the desired correction). The non-planar surface of the template is fitted to the area of the cornea to be refractively corrected, whereby the corneal tissue to be removed is selectively deformed so as to be substantially conformed to and held against the non-planar surface. Application of a vacuum between the template and cornea aids in this holding. The water jet micro-keratome, in a sheet-like configuration provides a full non-scanning transverse planar cut through the corneal tissue at a position adjacent the template, such that release of the template from the corneal tissue results in the undeformed configuration thereof having the desired correction. Use of the water jet micro-keratome provides a cut corneal tissue surface of smoothness and polish, substantially equivalent to that of the original surface.

    • The present invention provides a method for paging legacy and advanced access terminals. One embodiment of the method comprises receiving a notification that an access terminal is entering an idle mode and determining whether the access terminal is a legacy device identified by a fixed length identifier or an advanced device identified by one of a plurality of mode-dependent identifiers. The mode-dependent identifier is used to identify the advanced device in the idle mode. This embodiment may also include allocating one or more first paging cycles to the access terminal when it is a legacy device or one or more second paging cycles to the access terminal when it is an advanced device. The first and second paging cycles are different.
