    • A computer apparatus and method are provided for visually mapping fields of various electronic forms to a common object model. The forms may then be dynamically completed via a runtime engine that retrieves mapping data from a relational database and uses the mapping data to automatically populate corresponding fields of the forms without manual input by the user. Specifically, a visual mapping tool displays the objects of the common object model as well as the fields of a form to be mapped. A user drags and drops one or more of the displayed objects into a mapping area, and drags and drops a field to which the one or more objects are to be mapped. The user also identifies a type of association between the selected objects and the field. A mapping entry is then generated in a map file to map the selected objects to the field.

    • An electronically steerable antenna system includes a plurality of panels that are coupled together to form an N-sided polygon. Each panel includes a plurality of microstrip conductor patches forming a phased array antenna. In a first embodiment that includes beam steering, each panel can selectively transmit or receive in a direction that is either perpendicular to the panel, or to the left or right of perpendicular, depending upon relative delay line lengths applied to the left and right antennas. A second embodiment omits the beam steering capability for each panel and simply enables only one of the N different panels to be employed for transmitting or receiving a radiofrequency signal in a direction perpendicular to the panel. PIN diodes are preferably used for selecting the panel that is active, and in the first embodiment, for selecting the delay lines used.

    • To provide proxy address neutrality, in particular for mobile server devices, a server application can register its network address with a discovery application. Whenever the server application acquires a new network address, the server application updates the discovery application. A client application providing proxy services for the server application can invoke calls to the server client using the network address for the server application that is currently stored in the client device. If the current network address is invalid, the client application obtains an updated network address from the discovery application.

    • A support mechanism for a computer peripheral device includes a housing accommodating a base within the housing, and a supporting post having a first end coupled to the base. The base has a pivoting sleeve and couples to the supporting post at a first position, and the pivoting sleeve engages with the supporting post such that the housing is rotatable to force the pivoting sleeve and the supporting post to rotate. The pivoting sleeve can move along an axial line of the housing, and the housing can be pivoted about the top of the pivoting sleeve together with the supporting post. Therefore, the housing can carry out multi-direction-movement, or so-called sphere-like movement relative to a leg coupled to the second end of the supporting post.
