    • A pruning algorithm for generating a reverse donut model (RDM) for running timing analysis for a block in an IC includes logic to reduce a hierarchical model of the IC to a single level flat model. A block from a plurality of blocks that make up the IC is identified from the single level flat model of the IC. The pruning algorithm is further used to initialize a timer and to define timing constraints associated with each of a plurality of input and output pins associated with the identified block. A RDM for the identified block is generated by identifying and including connectivity information associated with a plurality of input and output pins in an outer boundary of the identified block and at least one layer of interface connection between each of the plurality of input and output pins in the outer layer of the identified block and one or more circuit elements external to the identified block in the IC interfacing with each of the plurality of input and output pins in the identified block. The generated RDM acts as a blackbox for the identified block and is used in place of the identified block for running the timing analysis.

    • An improved cast cylinder head for a high performance internal combustion engine is provided by an especially configured quench surface from which a contoured combustion chamber extends having a metal mass buildup shrouding the exhaust gases through the exhaust valve seat. A metal mass buildup configuration is also provided about the intake valve seat which acts in conjunction with an especially configured and proportioned valve intake passage to draw the fuel-air mixture into the combustion chamber in an unshrouded, helical flow pattern. The intake passageway configuration is such that a rich fuel-air mixture is drawn through the intake valve seat at a portion thereof remote from said exhaust valve seat while a lean fuel-air mixture exits the intake valve seat adjacent the exhaust valve seat. Positioning the fuel-air mixture in such a manner in combination with the unshrouded metal mass buildup minimizes short-circuiting of the fuel through the exhaust valve seat in a valve overlap condition.

    • An improvement in a cast head for a high performance internal combustion engine having a flat mounting surface for each of several in-line circular piston areas, a wedge type combustion chamber extending from the head mounting surface and defined by a flat quenching surface and a concave, contoured wedge-shaped cavity forming surface. This wedge-shaped cavity tapers outwardly from the quenching surface between a shallower portion adjacent the quenching surface to a deeper portion in which the valves are located. The cavity forming surface of the deeper area of the combustion chamber being provided with a general contour defined by two parallel intersecting, truncated cones generally concentric to the two valve openings in the wedge-shaped combustion chamber with a gradually contoured surface section between the cones at the deeper area of the combustion chamber and a velocity increasing protuberance in the combustion chamber at the shallower portion of the cavity which protuberance includes a curved edge portion of the flat quenching surface, which edge portion extends inwardly of the wedge shaped cavity toward a position between the two valve seats and a built up mass of cast material sloping from the curved edge of the quenching surface toward the valve seats to guide gases from the combustion chamber through the exhaust outlet primarily and, to a lesser extent from the intake inlet into the combustion chamber. This mass of material increases velocity through the exhaust port during the engine exhaust cycle.

    • A woven paper making fabric (A) is disclosed having a profiled permeability characteristic which varies across the width of the fabric yet the tensions are relatively uniform across the width of the fabric. The fabric includes a plurality of warp yarns (20, 22, 24, 26) extending in a machine direction and a plurality of weft yarns (28, 30, 32) extending in a cross-machine direction in the fabric woven with the warp yarns. The weft yarns and warp yarns are woven to provide at least two layers (60, 62, 64) in the fabric. A number of unwoven fabric closure elements (B) are bound between the weft yarns of two of the fabric layers (60, 62) extending in the machine direction adjacent the lateral edges (42, 44) of the fabric (A). The closure elements (B) extend through the fabric parallel to the edges in a generally straight configuration between the two fabric layers (60, 62) in a generally tensionless state so as not to effect the tension of the weave of the fabric. A uniform weave tension exists across the width of said fabric. The closure elements block the flow of air through the fabric to reduce the permeability of the fabric at the lateral edges (46, 48) and provide the desired permeability profile.
