摘要： A soft tissue fixation device for placement in a bone hole includes a body having an outer surface. A longitudinally extending channel for receiving soft tissue is defined by a portion of the outer surface. The body is constructed to be secured in the bone hole in response to axial motion of the body into the bone hole without requiring further manipulation of the device. The channel is configured to secure soft tissue located within the channel between the portion of the outer surface defining the channel and a wall of the bone hole. A securing member is defined by a second portion of the outer surface for securing the body in the bone hole. A rib located within the channel or a projection configured to be selectively deployed into the channel aid in securing the soft tissue in the channel.

摘要： An adjustably expandable suture anchor is provided. The suture anchor includes a pair of members, one of which includes a suture mount, which are configured to be secured together in a selected one of a plurality of positions to cause one of the members to expand by an amount that corresponds to the selected position. In one embodiment, the expandable member is an outer member, and the other member is an inner member which is progressively insertable into an opening in a body of the outer member and securable in the selected position therein. For example, the inner member is threaded into the outer member body or is inserted into the body in ratchet-like fashion. As the inner member is inserted distally into the outer member, an exterior enlargement on the inner member engages a plurality of arms which extend proximally from body, and causes the arms to progressively expand radially outwardly. Because the amount of expansion is adjustable, the suture anchor can be customized to provide the proper amount of fixation for the quality of the bone in which the anchor is installed. For example, when used in relatively soft bone tissue, the suture anchor can be expanded to a greater degree than might be required in harder bone tissue to obtain secure fixation.

The joint component includes a body having a first articulating surface and a second medial surface opposite the first articulating surface. The mounting portion has a first surface and a second medial surface. The first surface is adapted to be fixably engaged to the second mounting portion of the humeral component. The second medial surface is adapted to be secured to the humerus. A peg which has a first end adapted to engage a cavity found in the humerus is disposed on the mounting portion's second medial surface.

摘要： An electron beam pumped gas laser includes an evacuated cavity adapted to house a lasing gas and an electron beam launching means (such as a field emission diode). Means are provided to insert a lasing gas into the cavity so as to produce a traveling density discontinuity. The diode is energized prior to the time the traveling density discontinuity reaches it so as to launch an electron beam under substantially evacuated conditions. The principles of the invention can also be applied to gaseous electron beam transport.
