摘要： A pressing device includes a pressure lever that is platy and has a thickness t. The pressure lever pivots. A cam presses the pressure lever. A cam follower is mounted on the pressure lever and disposed opposite the cam. The cam follower transmits pressure from the cam to the pressure lever. The cam follower has a contact face that contacts the cam and a side face that is perpendicular to the contact face. The contact face has a length W in a thickness direction of the pressure lever and a length L1 in an orthogonal direction perpendicular to the thickness direction of the pressure lever. The length L1 is defined from a contact position where the cam follower contacts the cam to the side face of the cam follower. The thickness t, the length W, and the length L1 satisfy a relation defined by L1≥0.6×(W−t)/2+0.2.

摘要： A fixing device includes a rotator, an endless belt, and a nip formation pad. The endless belt contacts the rotator and rotates in a direction of rotation. The nip formation pad contacts an inner circumferential surface of the endless belt to form a fixing nip between the endless belt and the rotator that presses the endless belt against the nip formation pad. The nip formation pad includes a slide layer, a base layer, and a lubricant holding layer. The slide layer contacts the endless belt. The base layer is disposed away from the endless belt. The lubricant holding layer is interposed between the slide layer and the base layer to hold a lubricant inside the lubricant holding layer and supply the lubricant to the slide layer. The slide layer has a porous structure including a plurality of through holes in a thickness direction of the slide layer.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes two rotators, a driver driving the rotators, a heating device to heat the rotator, a blower blowing air to the heating device, a temperature detector, a recording medium detector, a cover, an open-close detector, and circuitry. The circuitry detects an abnormal state and stops heat generation, determines whether the cover is closed using the open-close detector, controls the blower to blow air when the cover is closed, determines whether the recording medium is in the nip using the recording medium detector, controls the driver to rotate the two rotators when the cover is closed and no recording medium is in the nip, determines whether a temperature detected is equal to or lower than a threshold value before the cover is opened, and controls the blower to decrease an air volume when the temperature detected is equal to or lower than the threshold value.
