    • A touch screen device and an operating method thereof are provided. More specifically, a touch screen device is provided which allows a user to selectively restrict input through a touch screen. The touch screen device includes a screen that includes a display configured to display images thereon and a detector configured to detect a touch on the display and convert the touch into an electrical signal, and a controller configured to cause images to be displayed on the display and receive and process signals from the detector. Further, a user may determine whether the controller is operated according to the signal input into the detector. The determination may be made either by a switch separately installed on an earphone or by inputting a signal into the detector by a user.

    • An apparatus and method for controlling CPU speed transition can use an SMI (System Management Interrupt) signal to perform speed transition of a CPU of a computer such as a notebook computer. However, if the bus master device is in the active state, a control operation needed for CPU speed transition is cancelled at the same time an event signal (e.g., a watchdog SMI or an embedded controller SMI) is created at prescribed intervals and the bus mater device active state is accordingly re-checked. Therefore, when the bus master device is in the active state, the control operation for CPU speed transition is cancelled to prevent the computer from hanging up, and the CPU speed transition control operation is periodically retried to increase a likelihood of a normal CPU speed transition or the normal CPU speed transition can be established.

    • A microcomputer and method for same can contain a nonvolatile memory module and store information regarding various system models in the memory module to support the various system models by one keyboard BIOS. Functions preset in the microcomputer, which includes a keyboard controller are not removed even though system voltages are removed so the preset functions are maintained. Preferably, the microcomputer includes a nonvolatile memory module for storing desired, prestored information even when system voltages are removed, and a keyboard controller module for performing control operations of a keyboard with a keyboard basic input/output system (BIOS). The desired information can include function information set by a user, current status information, and design selection information for designing the keyboard BIOS appropriately to an applied system.

    • A touch screen device and an operating method are provided in which only a specific position on a touch screen is activated to receive signals. The touch screen device includes a screen including a display configured to display menu images thereon and a detector configured to detect a screen touch, and a controller configured to control operations of the device according to the screen touch detected by the detector. The controller may cause the detector to be divided into an execution area configured to execute a menu when the menu placed on the execution area is touched, and a selection area configured to sequentially move the menu images to the execution area when the selection area is touched. Alternatively, the controller may cause the detector to be divided into a moving area configured to move a menu from a touch point along a drag line while the menu is dragged, and an execution area configured to execute the relevant menu when the touch on the execution area is released. With a touch screen device so configured, the menus are executed only in a limited execution area.
