    • The present invention relates to a method for cell selection in a wireless communication system. The method for cell selection by a terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention may comprise the following steps: measuring the channel quality of a first cell; measuring the channel quality of a second cell; determining whether the value obtained by applying an offset to the result of the measurement of the channel quality of the second cell is better than the result of the measurement of the channel quality of the first cell; if the value obtained by applying an offset to the result of the measurement of the channel quality of the second cell is better than the result of the measurement of the channel quality of the first cell, determining whether the value obtained by applying no offset to the result of the measurement of the channel quality of the second cell is better than a preset reference value; and, if the value obtained by applying no offset to the result of the measurement of the channel quality of the second cell is better than the preset reference value, selecting the second cell. According to one embodiment of the present invention, an operable cell can be selected to prevent malfunctions, and interference from a CSG cell may be reduced.

    • The present invention relates to a packet retransmission method of a terminal accessing a base station in contention-based access mode, and the method includes transmitting an uplink packet to the base station; receiving, when the base station fails decoding the uplink packet, a retransmission request message transmitted by the base station; and initiating, when the retransmission request message is received, a Radio Link Control (RLC) retransmission. According to the present invention, the terminal operating in contention-based access mode initiates RLC retransmission in reception of an HARQ NACK from the base station. Accordingly, it is possible to perform the RLC retransmission immediately without necessity of waiting for the expiry of HARQ RTT as in the HARQ retransmission, resulting in reduction of packet retransmission delay.

    • The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring a signal. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a signal measuring method may comprise the steps of: determining whether or not a current subframe corresponds to a measurement period; measuring a serving cell signal when the current subframe corresponds to the measurement period; determining whether a current measurement mode is a normal scan mode or a short scan mode in which a serving cell signal is more frequently measured than in the normal scan mode; determining whether or not the measured serving cell signal is less than a preset low signal threshold value when the current measurement mode is the normal scan mode; and changing the current measurement mode to the short scan mode when the measured serving cell signal is less than the low signal threshold value. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system signal measuring method and apparatus which can quickly reflect the surrounding environment while efficiently using power is provided.

    • A User Equipment (UE) category handling method and an apparatus for handling late version UE category attached to an early release version network in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system are provided. A communication method includes transmitting a terminal capability report message including multiple terminal categories, receiving a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection reconfiguration message including a terminal category to be used by the terminal according to serving base station of the terminal, and communicating with the network using the terminal category received from the network. The UE category handling method and apparatus of the present invention allows the UE to report a network-adaptive UE category, thereby avoiding soft buffer problem caused by version information mismatch and facilitating communication with the network without malfunctioning.
