    • A multifunctional detector for emitting and receiving optical signals in order to determine the presence, location, and range movement of a player within a field of regard is disclosed. The detector generally includes a laser module operable for emitting an optical signal; an optional fiber optical delay line; a microcontroller/processor; a faceted scanning mirror pattern having multiple facets with each facet being tilted downward to allow for unique depressions for reflecting and scattering optical signals emitted by the laser module; a spinner/motor for driving and rotating the faceted mirror pattern; an optional combiner for separating emitted optical signals from the laser module or combining reflected optical signals from an reflective source; and a transceiver with an integrated APD receiver for receiving reflected optical signals combined from the combiner and transmitting reflected optical signal data to a central controller or other players. A method of using the detector is also disclosed.

    • A simulated weapon for simulating projectiles fired at a target includes a firearm housing and an optical transmitter. The firearm housing is configured to be aimed at the target by a gunner. The optical transmitter is mechanically coupled to the firearm housing and is configured to transmit an optical beam that simulates a projectile. The optical transmitter includes an optical generator for generating the optical beam and a beam shaping element operatively positioned to receive the optical beam from the optical generator. The beam shaping element is configured to adjust an intensity profile of the optical beam that is incident upon the target so that a first portion of the optical beam simulates a trajectory of a projectile and a second portion of the optical beam has a greater divergence than the first portion of the optical beam.

    • The present disclosure relates to a miniature precision clamping assembly driven by a shape memory alloy actuator wire (SMA wire) which may be employed within a braking or clutch system. The clamping assembly includes a first clamping element, a second clamping element and an SMA wire connected to the first and second clamping elements by being interwoven through a plurality of pressure amplifiers located on the exterior surfaces of the first and second clamping elements. Both the first and second clamping elements are configured to be positioned about a rotatable shaft and move in translation to the shaft via a transition action of the SMA wire between a clamping and releasing position. By energizing the SMA wire a contracting or compressing action is generated thereby causing the first and second clamping elements to move into engagement with the one shaft for inhibiting rotational movement.

    • There is provided a method and system for improved travel transaction billing and reconciling that permits a financial services provider to generate a centralized, detailed and customized billing statement based on travel itinerary data and information received from a travel agent or agency for travel transactions booked during a billing period, which can permit expedited generation and submission of the billing statement at the end of a billing period to a responsible client for faster payment of billed transactions. The financial services provider does not wait for receipt of travel supplier charges before generating the billing statement for travel transactions based on received travel agent records. The financial services provider can subsequently reconcile, unique reference indicator, the billing statement travel transactions or travel itinerary data against travel supplier charges received from the travel supplier for the booked travel transactions.
