    • Riser stress-engineering-assessment equipment to verify the integrity and the in-deployment-integrity of a riser string by knowing the status, details and location of each riser joint and by monitoring the deployment parameters. When the failure risk exceeds an acceptable level, the equipment activates a local and/or a remote alarm using voice, sound and lights. The system comprises a computer with communication means, a material properties and geometry detection system, a data acquisition system acquiring deployment and other parameters, a database comprising of riser historical data and captured expert knowledge, a failure-criteria calculation to calculate maximum-stresses under different loads and the combined effects of the different loads to determine if the riser string is still fit-for-deployment.

    • The non-destructive inspection equipment is provided with voice interaction to interface with the inspector and/or operator who preferably controls the inspection equipment and the inspection process, at least in part, through the use of voice control and by receiving audio and/or video feedback from the inspection equipment. The overall inspection quality is preferably substantially improved when the inspector and/or operator can focus entirely on the material under inspection while maintaining full control of the inspection equipment and the inspection process. The inspection equipment and its interfaces are adapted and fine-tuned for interaction with humans, particularly in a harsh noise industrial environment. Further, the voice interaction preferably allows the inspector and/or operator to operate the inspection equipment while wearing gloves or with dirty hands as he/she will not need to constantly physically manipulate the inspection equipment.

    • Autonomous remaining useful life estimation equipment interacts with the operator through natural speech, voice and sound and provides active failure prevention through automatic and/or continuous remaining useful life estimation of a material under evaluation. The equipment comprises at least one computer and a material features acquisition system operable to detect a plurality of material features. The features are then evaluated according to rules that capture the multidiscipline knowledge of experts and are already inputted into the computer. The computer iterations are processed until an acceptable conclusion is made regarding the condition of the material under evaluation, thus alleviating the need for multidiscipline experts to examine and analyze all the material data manually, a very slow and expensive process. Further, the natural speech and voice interaction preferably allows the operator to operate the equipment while wearing gloves or with dirty hands as he/she will not need to constantly physically manipulate the equipment. The remaining useful life estimation capability may also be retrofitted into conventional inspection systems by extracting pertinent features through spectral frequency analysis and sensor normalization and utilizing those features in the autonomous remaining useful life estimation system.
