    • A tip arrangement for a bottle used for dispensing viscous liquid, such as drops of medicine, is provided. Embodiments include a tip insert having an insert body and a piercing point at a lower end of the insert body, for piercing a top surface of the bottle and for retaining the tip insert on the top surface of the bottle after piercing. A passage extends from a distal end of the piercing point, through the insert body, to an opposing upper surface of the insert body. A dispensing tip at the insert body upper surface communicates with the passage for precisely forming drops of the liquid from the bottle.

    • A redundant power system includes a redundant power source, a first switch, a second switch, and a control circuit. The first switch connects between the redundant power source and a low priority remote system, where the first switch has a characteristic of turning off faster than the first switch turns on. The second switch connects between the redundant power source and a high priority remote system, where the second switch has a characteristic of turning off faster than the second switch turns on. The control circuit applies a first control signal to the first switch to cause the redundant power source to connect through the first switch to the low priority remote system via a switched connection, determines if the high priority remote system requires redundant power, applies a second control signal to the first switch to open the switched connection when the high priority remote system requires redundant power, initiates a delay timer, and applies a third control signal to the second switch, upon an expiration of the delay timer, to cause the redundant power source to connect through the second switch to the high priority remote system.

    • A redundant power system may include a first switch that connects between a redundant power source and a first remote system, a second switch that connects between the redundant power source and a second remote system, and a control circuit. The control circuit may apply a first control signal to the first switch to cause the redundant power source to connect through the first switch to the first remote system via a switched connection. The control circuit may determine if the second remote system requires power, and may apply a second control signal to the first switch to open the switched connection when the high priority remote system requires power. The control circuit may apply a third control signal to the second switch, upon an expiration of a delay timer, to cause the redundant power source to connect through the second switch to the second remote system.

    • This disclosure describes a more efficient and configurable power allocation scheme for redundant power supply (RPS) systems used in network switches. This allocation scheme allows the system owner to assign power from a shared RPS unit to higher priority devices in any network switch in the system. This permits more granularity in assigning the RPS with backup power available to devices such as ports residing within individual switches in a multiple switch network. An efficient power allocation scheme for RPS allows the user to define the system priority of various devices for backup power according to the user's preferences. The user may assign the RPS to user-defined high priority devices in any piece of equipment. This makes RPS power allocation more flexible by offering the user more setup options for backup power.
