    • A blind riveting tool head for placing blind breakstem rivets is provided with a stem-disposal device which comprises a flexible hose connected to the rear end of a passage running rearwardly through the head from the rivet-placing jaws. An air injector at the junction of the head and the hose supplies both a flow of air rearwardly along the hose to assist broken-off stem portions rearwardly therealong, and also a flow of air forwardly along the passage through the head. When the tool head is operated to place a rivet, both airflows are shut off as the rivet-placing jaws approach their rearmost position, and thereafter the rearward airflow along the hose is re-established before the forwards airflow along the passage.

    • A riveting tool for placing a blind breakstem rivet includes a body; a nose casing securable to the body, the nose casing having a nose tip having a nose tip; a jaw housing inside the nose casing, the jaw housing containing jaws for gripping and pulling a rivet stem in use, the jaw housing having an end which incorporates an aperture through which the jaws are urged towards the nose tip by resilient biasing means; and adjustment means configured to adjust a distance from the end of the jaw housing to an inside of the nose tip.     • A riveting tool (10) for placing a blind breakstem rivet (20), the tool comprising: a body (11); a nose casing (6) securable to the body, the nose casing having a nose tip (8); a jaw housing (7) inside the nose casing, the jaw housing containing jaws (5) for gripping and pulling a rivet stem (21) in use, the jaw housing having an end which incorporates an aperture through which the jaws are urged towards the nose tip by resilient biasing means (3); and adjustment means by which the distance from the end of the jaw housing to the inside of the nose tip may be adjusted.     • In a fastener installation tool which is pneumatically powered to instal a blind rivet or bolt by a relative pulling action, a pneumatic/hydraulic intensifier (12, 13) is included to actuate hydraulically the pulling stroke of a head piston (22) which provides the relative pulling action. It is desirable to design such tools so that they have increased levels of safety for the persons using and operating them. In such a tool, there is provided a safety device including a valve for disabling the supply of air to one side of a pneumatic piston and cylinder device (15) and a push-rod (51) operative connected to the valve and extending along the inside of the air supply conduit The push rod normally contacts the displaceable end (43) of the cylinder when the displaceable end is in its safe position so as to operate the valve to allow the supply of air to the pneumatic chamber. The push-rod is movable, when the displaceable end of the cylinder is displaced from its safe position, to operate the valve so as to disable the supply of air under pressure to the cylinder on the aforesaid side of the piston.
