    • An image mosaic is created from overlapping images. A first seam is shown between a first pair of overlapping images such that, on a first side, a first image of the first pair is shown, and on a second side, a second image of the first pair is shown. The first seam includes a plurality of pixels in the image mosaic. An indicator of an interaction with the image mosaic is received. The indicator indicates that the user has selected a pixel of the plurality of pixels of the first seam and has moved the selected pixel to a first location within an overlapping region between the first pair of overlapping images. A second seam that includes the first location is computed. The image mosaic including the second seam is presented. The second seam replaces at least a portion of the first seam in the image mosaic.

    • A method of creating an image mosaic is provided. A plurality of image files is read at a computing device. The plurality of image files contains image data defining a plurality of overlapping images. A dual adjacency mesh for an image mosaic is defined based on an arrangement of the plurality of overlapping images. The dual adjacency mesh is defined as a plurality of nodes and edges that connect a pair of the plurality of nodes. A node is defined for each image of the plurality of overlapping images, and an edge is defined when an overlap exists between a pair of images of the plurality of overlapping images. The image mosaic is presented in a display of the computing device. The image mosaic is created from the plurality of overlapping images based on the defined dual adjacency mesh.

    • Disclosed is a scheme for creating, manipulating and transmitting images of a 3-D object through networks. A useful layering coupled with vector quantization allows an efficient combination of compressing and encoding of both the topology (connectivity) and geometry (vertex coordinates) of polygon meshes such as triangles. Connectivity information is contained in both generalized triangle strips and exception strips, the latter characterized by triangles for which all three vertices lie in the parent vertex layer. Geometry encoding is achieved with a productive vector quantization scheme which uses correction vectors for which distortion is merged into a following correction vector. Progressive connectivity transmission is achieved by using both intra-layer and inter-layer decomposition and reconstruction. The process encodes connectivity and geometry separately. Encoding of 3-D objects having left-right mirror symmetries using the process is described.

A directory structure is created in a file system of a second computing device based on the hierarchical z-order.     • A method, a system, and a computer-readable medium are provided which provide interactive editing of image data. Image data is sampled, by a computing device, at a first resolution. The first resolution is lower than a full resolution of the image data. Gradients for the sampled image data are calculated by the computing device. The computing device solves a system equation for color pixel data for each pixel of the sampled image data using the sampled image data and the calculated gradients. The computing device controls a display of the color pixel data on a display.
