    • A device for dispensing an individual plastic fastener from a supply of fastener stock includes a motor-driven head assembly adapted to receive the supply of fastener stock, sever an individual fastener from the supply and in turn eject the severed fastener. The head assembly includes a pair of needle block assemblies that retain corresponding hollow needles, each needle block assembly being shaped to define a feed channel that transitions a side rail for the fastener stock into axial alignment behind its corresponding needle. In addition, at least one needle block assembly includes a rearward shelf and a forward bowing plate. In use, the lowermost cross-links of the fastener stock fittingly align between the shelf and the bowing plate. In this manner, the lowermost cross-links are limited to distort uniformly upward within the single plane defined by the pair of feed channels, thereby optimizing feed reliability of the device.

    • An improved fastener stock is comprised of a pair of longitudinal and continuous side members to which are coupled to a plurality of equidistantly spaced cross-pieces. The pair of longitudinal and continuous side members are extended in a parallel spaced relationship, and the series of cross-pieces are arranged at spaced intervals between the side members so as to connect the side members. Along at least one of the side members, a series of engagement notches are present at spaced intervals between each of said cross-pieces members, and the engagement notches are rectangular or square in shape. A method of applying a fastener to an article is provided. The method includes initially feeding a substantially continuous fastener stock from a supply, engaging at least one engagement notch, urging said fastener stock forward, feeding said fastener stock to a needle assembly, cutting a fastener from said fastener stock, and inserting said fastener into an article.

    • A molding system and method for installation that covers existing molding. The molding system covers existing trim for doorways and floors with a more decorative molding. The invention includes a molding overlay. An upper corner block covers the intersections of the existing doorway molding, and a lower corner block covers a section of the existing doorway molding with the existing baseboard, eliminating the need to cut mitered angles in the overlay molding. Recesses in the backside of the corner blocks allow the corner blocks to receive the old molding. The molding overlay abuts the corner blocks, thereby avoiding the requirements for making any cuts other than perpendicular cuts.

    • A tool for dispensing plastic fasteners from a fastener clip includes a housing, a trigger pivotally mounted in the housing, a hollow slotted needle slidably mounted in the housing, an ejector rod disposed to insert back and forth through the hollow needle and an indexing mechanism for advancing the cross-bar of a fastener in the fastener clip into axial alignment behind the needle. The indexing mechanism includes a feed slide coupled to the trigger and a pivotally mounted feed cam connected to the feed slide, the feed cam including a pair of spaced apart projections. A metal feed pawl includes a ratchet shaped tooth and is disposed against the feed cam in a fitted relationship between the pair of projections. A spring mounted on the feed pawl resiliently urges the ratchet tooth into continuous contact with the fastener clip to prevent a jamming condition.

    • A tool for dispensing plastic fasteners from a fastener clip, each plastic fastener in the fastener clip having a cross bar coupled to a common runner bar by a stub. The tool comprises a gun shaped casing having a front, a rear and a top. A guide groove extends down from the top for receiving the fastener clip. A hollow slotted needle is mounted in the front of the gun shaped casing, the hollow needle having an inlet opening in communication with the guide groove and an outlet opening. The hollow needle includes an anti-back and a knife edge. An ejector slide is disposed within the gun shaped casing and movable back and forth therein. A feed slide is disposed within the gun shaped casing and movable back and forth therein. A feed cam is disposed inside the casing is rotably mounted at one place onto the casing and pivotally mounted at another place onto the feed slide. The feed cam includes a front surface having a pair of outwardly extending spaced apart pins. A feed pawl is disposed on the feed cam between the pair of pins, the feed pawl having a tooth for engaging the stub of a plastic fastener so that the cross bar of a plastic fastener to be dispensed is advanced into alignment with the inlet opening of the hollow needle. An ejector rod is mounted on the ejector slide for pushing a plastic fastener to be dispensed through the hollow slotted needle and a trigger link assembly is provided for moving the ejector slide and the feed slide back and forth within the casing. In the operation of the apparatus, movement of the feed slide back and forth will cause rotational movement of the feed cam which in turn will cause upward and/or downward movement of the pair of spaced apart pins on the feed cam carrying with it the feed pawl and movement of the ejector slide back and forth will move the ejector rod into and out of the hollow needle.
