    • Disclosed are an area-limited self-organized wireless network management method, a communication apparatus, and a system. The method comprises a step of, when a communications apparatus which is entering the limited area receives area signals for indicating a specific area in which network nodes are located, determining by the communications apparatus whether the master node exists in the limited area; a step of, if it is determined that the master node exists, performing identity authentication with regard to the master node and letting the communications apparatus itself be a sub node by the communications apparatus; and a step of, if it is determined that the master node does not exist, letting the communications apparatus itself be the master node by the communications apparatus, wherein, the master node is in charge of entering of a new sub node and synchronization of shared secret keys between the network nodes.

    • In one embodiment, a system for computing class identifiers for three-dimensional pixel data has been developed. The system comprises a plurality of class identifying processors, and a data grouper operatively connected to a first memory. Each class identifying processor has a plurality of inputs for at least one pixel value and a plurality of class identifiers for pixel values neighboring the at least one pixel value and each class identifying processor is configured to generate a class identifier for the at least one pixel value input with reference to the class identifiers for the neighboring pixel values. The data grouper is configured to retrieve a plurality of pixel values from the first memory and a plurality of class identifiers for pixel values neighboring the retrieved pixel values.

    • A method for protein refolding using a like-charged ion exchange resins as an additive to facilitate protein refolding. The ion exchange resins mentioned herein includes charged group with the same sign as the target protein to be refolded and the method for refolding an unfolded protein. The method has some advantages described as below: firstly, no new impurity is introduced into the final product of protein due to ion exchange resins used in the present invention is insoluble and easy to remove by settlement or centrifugation, secondly; the key material used in the present invention, ion exchange resins, is easy to recycle after regeneration; thirdly, compared with the refolding method by chromatographic techniques, the current method requires no expensive chromatograph facilities and is simple to perform at lower cost, which is a desirable character for preparative refolding of therapeutic proteins expressed in bacteria as inclusion bodies.

    • Distortion and crosstalk that occurs when operating optical amplifiers in saturation is substantially reduced by passively compensating for gain variations caused by changes in input power to the optical amplifiers. More specifically, in an optical communication system having one or more optical amplifiers, a “reservoir” optical channel is supplied in addition to the other traffic-carrying optical channels. The wavelength of the reservoir channel is selected such that the power level of the reservoir channel varies in response to changes in power levels of the traffic-carrying channels. Because gain variations are typically highest around the gain peak region in an optical amplifier's gain bandwidth, the reservoir channel in one exemplary embodiment is assigned a wavelength around the gain peak region. As such, the reservoir channel can absorb or otherwise receive most of the distortion and crosstalk while the traffic-carrying channels located away from the gain peak region will experience less distortion and crosstalk. -Importantly, this passive compensation scheme can be used in an amplified system which is operating in the presence of nonlinear distortions caused by gain variations, such as inter-modal distortion and saturation induced crosstalk.
