    • A contact terminal which prevents a load from being concentrated on the contact terminal portion thereof when a part is disposed on a substrate, to prevent contact terminals from being short-circuited even if stacked, thereby reducing the overall space requirement. A projection is formed on a terminal base and the movable range of a contact is limited by the projection, whereby the load that is conventionally concentrated on a terminal support part can be distributed by a support part and the projection. Consequently, the durability of the terminal portion can be enhanced, the space for the contact terminal portion is saved, and a short circuit is prevented from occurring due to the contacting between the contact terminals.

    • An object of the invention is to repair a drain signal line easily. Each region enclosed by two gate signal lines adjacent to each other and two drain signal lines adjacent to each other that are formed on the liquid-crystal-side surface of one of transparent substrates that are opposed to each other with a liquid crystal interposed in between is made a pixel region. Each pixel region is provided with a switching element that is driven being supplied with a scanning signal from one of the two gate signal lines and a pixel electrode that is supplied, via the switching element, with a video signal from one of the two drain signal lines. A repair conductive layer is formed so as to be contained in each drain signal line when viewed perpendicularly with an insulating film interposed in between.

    • An optical communication device whereby optical attenuation characteristics are linearized to suppress optical level variations among wavelengths attributable to the attenuation characteristics and thereby enable long-distance transmission. Optical attenuators attenuate optical signals of respective wavelengths in accordance with optical attenuation data output from a control data converter. An optical multiplexer multiplexes the optical signals, and an optical amplifier amplifies the multiplexed signal. A control data output unit outputs optical signal control data based on differences between a set optical level and the optical levels of respective wavelengths input to the optical amplifier. A data table holds data for converting the optical signal control data to the optical attenuation data so that the optical attenuation amounts of the attenuators may be linearized with respect to the optical signal control data. A control data converter looks up the data table to convert the optical signal control data to the optical attenuation data.
