摘要： At least one embodiment of the inventive technology may be described as a method for analyzing a hydrocarbon that comprises volatiles, said method comprising the steps of: segregating said volatiles from said hydrocarbon without oxidizing said hydrocarbon; generating a hydrocarbon residue and segregated hydrocarbon volatiles; and analyzing at least one of said hydrocarbon residue and said segregated hydrocarbon volatiles. The advantageous avoidance of oxidation may be achieved by placing the hydrocarbon under a vacuum, which may also enable the avoidance of cracking of the hydrocarbon while still achieving segregation of volatiles as desired. One other of the several embodiments disclosed and claimed herein may focus more on vacuum transfer and vacuum distillation of hydrocarbon volatiles. These and other methods disclosed herein may be used to achieve improved hydrocarbon analysis results.

摘要： This invention discloses a system for cold bond processing of combustion ash which enhances various characteristics of the resulting cured consolidated combustion ash materials. Specifically, the invention relates to processing techniques which enhances both density and strength of the of the consolidated combustion ash materials. The invention also relates to processing techniques which control various chemical reactions which assure that certain types of minerals are formed in the proper amounts which results in a cured consolidated combustion ash material which has greater dimensional stability and enhanced resistance to degradation. Embodiments for both normal weight and light weight combustion ash aggregates are disclosed which meet various ASTM and AASHTO specifications.

摘要： Transgenic silkworms comprising at least one nucleic acid encoding a chimeric silk polypeptide comprising one or more spider silk elasticity and strength motifs are disclosed. Expression cassettes comprising nucleic acids encoding a variety of chimeric spider silk polypeptides (Spider 2, Spider 4, Spider 6, Spider 8) are also disclosed. A piggyBac vector system is used to incorporate nucleic acids encoding chimeric spider silk polypeptides into the mutant silkworms to generate stable transgenic silkworms. Chimeric silk fibers having improved tensile strength and elasticity characteristics compared to native silkworm silk fibers are also provided. The transgenic silkworms greatly facilitate the commercial production of chimeric silk fibers suitable for use in a wide variety of medical and industrial applications.
