A set of suitability measurements associated with a computer system resource operating in the first location is received, the set of suitability measurements including, for example, resource usage values for one or more resources associated with the workload. Based at least in part on one or more statistical calculations on the set of suitability measurements exceeding one or more thresholds, recommendations are made about whether to migrate the workload from the first location to the second location.

    • A computing resource service provider may receive, from a user client connected to an on-premises network, a security document specifying one or more user roles defining a level of access to customer resources within the on-premises network. In response, the service provider may generate and provide the user client with a cookie specifying the user roles and including an address for an interface within the service provider network. The service provider may receive a request from the user client to access one or more customer resources hosted by the service provider. The request may include the cookie previously provided to the user client. Accordingly, the service provider may extract the user roles from the cookie and determine, based at least in part on these user roles, whether to fulfill the user client request.

    • Remote computing resource service providers allow customers to execute one or more applications in a virtual environment on computer systems provided by the computing resource service provider. The customer applications are generally executed by multiple virtual machine instances working together. The virtual machines may be managed by a hypervisor executing on computer systems operated by the service provider. Different hypervisors may support different features and have different capabilities. Customers may wish to execute the one or more applications on a particular hypervisor in order to utilize certain features. A control plane may be used to facilitate management of the virtual environment by one or more services of the computing resource service provider.

    • A method of migrating applications from an enterprise-based network to a multi-tenant network of a compute service provider may include receiving a request to migrate an application running on a first virtual machine instance within the enterprise-based network. Dependencies of the application may be determined by identifying at least a second virtual machine instance within the enterprise-based network, where the at least second virtual machine instance associated with the application. Resource monitoring metrics associated with hardware resources used by the first virtual machine instance and the at least second virtual machine instance may be received. The first and at least second virtual machine instances may be migrated from the enterprise-based network to at least one virtual machine at a server within the multi-tenant network based on the monitoring metrics, thereby migrating the application from the enterprise-based network to the multi-tenant network.
