    • A method for configuring a wireless telecommunications network adapted to operate according to at least one radio system, includes a plurality of re-configurable base radio stations, wherein each base radio station is adapted to manage one or more cells of the telecommunications network, and wherein each cell has corresponding radio resources available. The method includes: obtaining measurements of the cells load status; dynamically configuring at least one of the cells by assigning thereto determined available radio resources depending on the measurements of the cell load status. Dynamically configuring includes: based on the measurements of the cell load status, determining at least one candidate radio resource to be assigned to the cell; prior to assigning the candidate radio resource to the cell, forecasting an impact on the network performance at the radio level potentially caused by the assignment of the candidate radio resource to the cell; and in case the forecasted impact complies with predetermined requirements, assigning the candidate radio resource to the cell.

    • A method for estimating a territorial distribution of traffic in a selected area of a cellular radio mobile communications network, includes: dividing the selected area into a plurality of traffic-generating area elements; determining overall traffic in respect of said selected network area; and distributing the overall traffic across the plurality of traffic-generating area elements. For distributing the traffic, a respective network traffic generation propension is calculated for each traffic-generating area element, wherein said network traffic generation propension is adapted to provide an indication of a forecasted population of users of the network in respect of the traffic generating area element; and a distribution of a radio electromagnetic field associated with a current network configuration across said selected area is also estimated, obtaining an indication of the radio electromagnetic field strength in each of said traffic-generating area elements, each of said traffic-generating area elements being assigned a respective overall traffic portion based on the respective network traffic generation propension and on the respective indication of the radio electromagnetic field strength.

    • A method, and a related system, for estimating coverage of a selected geographic area by a cellular radio mobile communications network including a plurality of radio base stations, includes: dividing the selected area into a plurality of area elements and determining expected serving radio base stations expected to serve the area elements based on an estimation of the strength of the radio electromagnetic field of the radio base stations in the area element. The expected serving radio stations are determined by: estimating probabilistic distributions of the strength of the radio electromagnetic fields irradiated by the radio base stations and perceived in the area element; and calculating probabilities that the area elements are served by the radio base stations based on said probabilistic distributions. The method can be exploited in the planning of a network, for example, in the estimation of the distribution of traffic.
