The decoder applies the decoder keys to decode the media signals. 摘要： Devices and systems are provided for controlling electronic devices using a mobile remote control device. A mobile remote control device provides an interface to control a plurality of electronic devices. The mobile device has a unique identifier, and the electronic device transmits a presentation of a remote control to the mobile device. A user of the mobile device controls the electronic device by operating the “virtual” remote control displayed on the mobile device. The user may further define his or her custom remote control. The user may define batches of commands, or “macros” that transmit a specific series of commands to one or more electronic devices. Proximity and motion of a mobile device may be used as an input, such that the electronic devices are programmed to react in specific ways depending upon the position and movement of the user of the mobile device.

The media codec devices may obtain media signals from multiple service providers or other sources, including protected media signals. The media codec devices may be decoupled from the source of the media signals by maintaining a managed collection of decoder information including decoder keys, decryption algorithms, and codecs within a memory of a decoder, where such decoder information may be updated by adding new decoder information and/or removing existing decoder information to add or lose service providers while the media codec device is in the possession of the consumer. The media codec device may be decoupled from playback devices at the premise of the consumer by utilizing media transfer devices that receive decoded media signals from the media codec device and transfer them for ultimate delivery to playback devices.

摘要： Aggregator devices and methods are disclosed for establishing device interaction in an environment containing other electronic devices and the aggregator device. The aggregator device has a transmitter, receiver, memory storing interaction rules, and a processor for implementing the interaction rules in association with the transmitter, receiver, and other devices of the environment. The methods involve transmitting a message to the aggregator from a first device, referencing rules of device interaction for the environment, and then according to the rules of device interaction, transmitting a message from the aggregator to a second device. The rules of device interaction may include instructions that are to be transmitted from the aggregator in response to the aggregator receiving change of state messages from devices of the environment.
