摘要： A graphical interactive visual response system and method is provided in which a graphical user interface provides such interactivity and visual response. A user can initiate contact with a representative using an application residing on a personal device, such as a mobile telephone or computer. The application (graphical interface) allows the user to interactively select options on a displayed menu, arrive at the appropriate service and initiate a connection with the representative. The connection is established when the user and representative are available, thereby avoiding hold and wait times typically associated with conventional interactive voice response system.

摘要： An Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)-based distributed virtual tandem switching system is provided in which a network of ATM-based devices is combined to create a distributed virtual tandem switch. The system includes an ATM switching network that dynamically sets up individual switched virtual connections. The system also includes a trunk interworking function (T-IWF) device and a centralized control and signaling interworking function (CS-IWF) device. The trunk interworking function device converts end office voice trunks from TDM channels to ATM cells by employing a structured circuit emulation service. The centralized control and signaling interworking function device performs call control functions and interfaces narrowband signaling and broadband signaling for call processing and control within the ATM switching network. Consequently, the ATM based distributed virtual tandem switching system replaces a standard tandem switch in the PSTN.

The criteria include a maximum retention period, a threshold presentation duration, and a report condition. When a user receives a multimedia program for a time at least as great as the threshold presentation duration, data indicating receipt of the multimedia program is stored. The receipt data is used to determine whether the receipt of the multimedia program meets the report condition. Access to the event report is provided to a user in response to a user input. The event report indicates receipt of the multimedia program if the receipt data meets the report condition. The receipt data is purged when an age of the receipt data equals or exceeds a maximum retention period.
