    • A motor manufacturing and its method of assembly are disclosed. The motor includes lower and upper end frames with bearings, an armature assembly rotatably mounted in the bearings of the lower and upper end frames, and a winding field assembly supported between the lower and upper end frames and surrounding the armature assembly. The method includes the steps of inserting one end of the armature assembly into the bearing of the lower end frame, positioning the winding field assembly over the armature assembly while also stacking the winding field assembly on the lower end frame, stacking the upper end frame on the winding field assembly while also positioning an opposite end of the armature assembly into the bearing of the upper end frame, and securing the lower end frame, winding field assembly and upper end frame to each other. Motor brush and brush holder assemblies are also secured to the upper end frame in a novel releasable locking arrangement, in order to provide self compensating adjustment of the brushes relative to a commutator that surrounds the armature assembly.

    • A snap together wet nozzle for use with a vacuum cleaner is disclosed. The snap together wet nozzle includes an elongated U-shaped nozzle housing with closed ends including a connecting tube passageway for association with the vacuum cleaner. An elongated squeegee is mounted within the elongated U-shaped housing and is held in releasable locking engagement between a locking squeegee bar and the elongated U-shaped housing.     • A wet/dry vacuum appliance having enhanced air-handling performance and reduced operating noise is described. In one embodiment, the collector scroll in a wet/dry vacuum is configured so as to isolate the vacuum's impeller from geometries prone to increase operating noise at particular frequencies. Further, the overall geometry and configuration of the air flow path through the power head of the vacuum is such that air-handling performance is enhanced even as noise levels are reduced. In the disclosed embodiment, the wet/dry vacuum is of the detachable power head type, although non-detachable power head implementations are contemplated.

A method of cleaning a vacuum cleaner filter may include coupling the filter holder to the filter inlet and rotating the filter holder so that the filter rotates about the filter cage.

    • The present invention is a handle used for pulling a wet/dry vacuum appliance and a mechanism for securely mounting such a handle to the lid of the vacuum. The mounting mechanism is designed for ease of assembly and reduced fastener cost. The handle is attached at two of its four attachment points by inserting journals molded into the sides of the handle into open bearing pockets molded in handle receiving recesses on the lid of the vacuum. The handle is then rotated into place and secured at the remaining two attachment points with suitable fasteners, such as screws. In certain embodiments of this invention, when the handle is rotated into position for attachment a locking slot in the bottom surface of the handle engages a rib provided in the handle receiving recess of the lid. This rib guides the handle as it rotates, prevents the journals from sliding back out of the bearing pockets, and locks the handle into the proper position for insertion of the fasteners.
