    • Three dimensional (3-D) program content viewing system in a media environment with different media presentation devices detects a first synchronization signal transmitted from a first synchronization signal source, wherein the first synchronization signal is associated with first 3-D program content and includes a first signal identifier. The system detects a second synchronization signal transmitted from a second synchronization signal source, wherein the second synchronization signal is associated with second 3-D program content and includes a second signal identifier. The system then receives a selection of one of the first synchronization signal and the second synchronization signal and discriminates between the first synchronization signal and the second synchronization signal based upon the first signal identifier and the second signal identifier. The system then controls a left lens and a right lens of 3-D shutter glasses in accordance with the selected one of the first synchronization signal and the second synchronization signal.

    • Systems and methods provide control of operating states of an electronic device. A first exemplary electronic device detects a consumer electronic control (CEC) communication sent from a second electronic device to a third electronic device, the CEC communication communicated over high-definition multimedia (HDMI) connectors communicatively coupling the first electronic device, the second electronic device and the third electronic device; determines, based on information in the CEC communication, whether the CEC communication is one of a first kind of CEC communication or a second kind of CEC communication; in response to determining that the CEC communication is one of the first kind of CEC communication, transitions the first electronic device to a predefined operating state; and in response to determining that the CEC communication is one of the second kind of CEC communication, maintains the first electronic device in a current operating state.

    • An exemplary electronic device receives control information via a wireless signal from a remote control, the control information configured to control operation of a target electronic device, and determines whether the target electronic device is configured to receive Consumer Electronic Control (CEC) format control information or receive non-CEC format control information. When the target electronic device is configured to receive CEC format control information, the received control information is translated into CEC format control information that the target electronic device is configured to interpret, and the translated CEC format control information is communicated to the target electronic device over a high-definition multimedia (HDMI) connector using the CEC format. When the target electronic device is not configured to receive CEC format control information, the received control information is translated into non-CEC format control information that the target electronic device is configured to interpret.
