摘要： A surgical end effector including an elongate channel configured to operably support a staple cartridge therein and a firing element configured to move within the elongate channel between a starting and an ending position. Various arrangements include openings through the bottom of the elongate channel to permit viewing of the firing element as it moves between the starting and ending positions. An anvil may be supported for movable travel relative to the elongate channel and include a plurality of openings therethrough to permit viewing of the cutting element as it moves between the starting and ending positions. Various arrangements include a firing bar attached to the firing element that serves to move the firing element between the starting and ending position. The firing bar may be movably supported with a hollow shaft that has a plurality of openings therethrough for monitoring the position of the firing bar.

The ridges can comprise a uniform height or a height which varies along the length thereof. The height can vary relative to a proximal end and a distal end of the cartridge body and/or between the center of the cartridge body and the side.

These methods and devices are accomplished via stabilized implantable systems, and ingestible pills. In one embodiment, the implantable system comprises a device delivering a therapeutic substance to a target location within the gastrointestinal tract of a patient in order to initiate an intestinal braking effect which would promote sensations of satiety and stimulate excess weight loss for the patient.

The cartridge body comprises a tissue-facing deck wherein a slot extends along at least a portion of the tissue-facing deck, staple cavities arranged in a plurality of rows comprising an inner row and an outer row on a first side of the slot, and projections extending from the tissue-facing deck. The staples comprise a first staple comprising a first staple height and a second staple comprising a second staple height greater than the first staple height. The first staple is positioned in an unfired position in a staple cavity in the inner row and the second staple is positioned in an unfired position in a staple cavity in the outer row. At least one projection is positioned to provide localized tissue compression on the first side of the slot intermediate the first staple and the second staple.

摘要： A disposable loading unit for use with a surgical stapling instrument is disclosed. The disposable loading unit comprises a cutting member, an anvil, and a first replaceable stapling jaw assembly. The first replaceable stapling jaw assembly comprises a first cartridge body and first staples. The disposable loading unit further comprises a second replaceable stapling jaw assembly comprising a second cartridge body and second staples. The disposable loading unit further comprises a lockout that prevents the first replaceable stapling jaw assembly from being fired after the first replaceable stapling jaw assembly has been at least partially fired. The surgical stapling instrument and the disposable loading unit are configured to deploy the second staples from the second replaceable stapling jaw assembly with which the first replaceable stapling jaw assembly is replaced.
