摘要： A determination device includes an acquisition unit that acquires an output characteristic representing a relationship between a gradation value corrected by a correction unit in accordance with a predetermined correction characteristic and a measured value of a density of a toner image output by an output device for the gradation value; an estimation unit that estimates a density of a toner image output by the output device for a predetermined reference gradation value when the reference gradation value is not within a range of the corrected gradation value, the estimation being performed based on the output characteristic acquired by the acquisition unit; and a determination unit that determines whether or not the correction characteristic needs to be changed by comparing the density estimated by the estimation unit with a predetermined threshold.

The level selecting unit selects one of a plurality of levels each distributed to one of a plurality of adjustment items affecting an image quality determining factor that determines image quality. The plurality of adjustment items are different from each other. The image quality adjusting unit adjusts a value of each of the adjustment items belonging to the level selected by the level selecting unit and any other level shallower than the selected level such that the image quality corresponding to the image quality determining factor approaches predetermined image quality. The image forming unit forms an image having image quality according to the value adjusted by the image quality adjusting unit.

摘要： An image reading apparatus includes an image reading section and a detection section. The image reading section includes at least two detection units, and performs a reading operation on an image. The at least two detection units have respective spectral characteristics which are different from each other. The detection section detects a condition of an irregularity on an image carrier by comparing a detection result of the image read by the image reading section with an output characteristic. The output characteristic is stored in advance and is a color component obtained from a value obtained by the image reading section reading a test image having a region in at least one color.
