摘要： A multimedia device and a method embodied in the multimedia device for providing access to media content from a plurality of media content are provided. The multimedia device includes a user interface (UI) with one or more UI controls, a processor, and an output device. The UI controls receive a first set of parameter values from the user, in order to select media content. The processor creates a first list of media content based on a first probabilistic distribution over the plurality of media content. The output device provides access to the media content of the first list of media content to the user. Further, the UI may receive a second set of parameter values, and a second list of media content is then created, based on a second probabilistic distribution. The output device provides access to the media content of the second list of media content to the user.

摘要： Disclosed are a system and method for gathering social information that is of interest to a user of a communications device. Information is gathered both from the device itself (e.g., call logs) and remotely (e.g., from social-networking web sites). The gathered information is then intelligently aggregated and presented to the user in a unified format. In many cases, each piece of social information is associated with at least one virtual identity. Some embodiments rationalize the display of social information by using a contact-identity database that associates a contact person with his multiple virtual identities. In some embodiments, the user can specify how the information is to be displayed and can specify ways to filter the information. For example, the user can specify which contact people are of interest and can filter their social information based on the type of the information and the time at which the information was posted.

摘要： Disclosed are methods for associating contextual information with a “media bundle.” A user is alerted to the existence of the media bundle when his current context corresponds in a pre-defined way to the context associated with the bundle. Upon being alerted, the user can choose to download and review the contents of the media bundle. In general, the contextual information personalizes the context to an individual or set of individuals and ties the bundle to a matter of particular interest to the individual. In some embodiments, “context triggers” are downloaded to a user's personal device. Each of these triggers specifies the context of a particular media bundle. The user device monitors its current context and alerts the user when the user's current context corresponds to that of one of the context triggers. Some embodiments allow the user, after reviewing the media bundle, to create and upload a response.

In order to reduce the difficulty in producing multiple clips from the multiple video sources, thumbnails of the captured content is displayed and one-click selection of start and stop points of each clip is allowed. An operator can then pick an annotation (metadata) from events in the game or enter a new one and apply it to any or all of the video clips. Suggested content is then displayed based on the metadata of this annotation and can be bundled with the video clips by choosing from the list of related content. All of this content is then bundled together in the database.

An end-user device or server uses this information to intelligently manage resources when downloading or rendering the media presentation. Many different types of importance information are used. An editor can tag a chunk as important based on the content of the chunk or may give the chunk a rating, or importance can be inferred from download statistics. In some embodiments, the end-user device determines the importance of a chunk based on observations of the behavior of the device's user. The end-user device can send its locally gathered behavioral observations to a server to enhance that server's demographic information. The server can observe its own download behavior to infer importance. The end-user device may choose to either not download, or to download at a low resolution, those chunks deemed to be unimportant, thus saving bandwidth and battery power.
