    • A communication system is provided that routes a bearer path of a communication session between an originating Node B and a terminating Node B via an X2 interface, bypassing an IMS core network, while continuing to route the signaling path to an IMS network, thereby allowing the IMS network to retain control of the bearer path while avoiding delay, potential for data loss and jitter to the bearer stream, and additional backhaul capacity requirements that result from routing the bearer path between the originating and terminating Node Bs via the IMS core network. In determining whether the bearer path may bypass the IMS core network, the communication system determines whether IMS core network bearer associated services are required for the communication session such that a bearer path of the call will need to be routed to the IMS core network in order to provide such services.

    • A method and apparatus are provided for manually or automatically configuring radio frequency (RF) resources for a customer premises base station (CPBS). In an embodiment, the CPBS prompts a user for RF resource configuration parameter values, and the user inputs RF resource configuration parameter values, such as physical features of a customer's premises, to the CPBS. The CPBS then conveys RF resource configuration information to a wireless broadband communications system operator, wherein the RF resource configuration information is based on the RF resource configuration parameter values received from the user, and in response to conveying the received RF resource configuration information, the CPBS receives an RF resource allocation. Another embodiment provides for the CPBS to collect RF resource configuration parameter values associated with a customer's premises in an automated fashion that serve as a basis for an RF resource allocation adjustment by a system operator.

    • A method, a system and a computer device for initiating bi-directional compression of a video stream in a packet switched network, based on delay tolerance of a service or application. A video frame recompression (VFR) utility determines an end-to-end (E2E) delay tolerance retrieved from a Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) report. The VFR utility then determines the actual expected delay based on a deep inspection of packet headers. The VFR utility utilizes a processing opportunity delay (which determines whether the E2E delay tolerance is greater than the actual expected delay) to reprocess video content comprising Intra-coded (I) pictures/frames and Predicted (P) frames to improve compression efficiency. The VFR utility may also utilize a complexity ratio which is a ratio of the I-Frame rate and the P-Frame rate to select frames for compression. The VFR utility recompresses video content by replacing P-Frames with B-Frames.
