    • In a vehicle display device in the invention, because the display position of a displayed image is adjusted by a display position calculation portion (14) and a drive control portion (15) when a predetermined vehicle travel condition is detected by a travel condition detection portion (12), the display position is adjusted while the driver is looking at the displayed image. In addition, adjustment of the display position may be avoided when the driver is not looking at the displayed image. Therefore, the display device avoids annoying the driver, and avoids needless adjustment of the display position. The display position of the image is adjusted based on the detected eyeball position.

    • A vehicle surrounding monitoring system includes an image-capturing portion, a storage portion, a display-image generation portion, and a display portion. The image-capturing portion captures the image of at least a portion of the area surrounding the vehicle. The storage portion stores the image captured by the image-capturing portion. The display-image generation portion generates a synthesized image for display using a latest image that is captured by the image-capturing portion, and a previous image that is captured before the latest image is captured. The synthesized image is displayed on the display portion. The display-image generation portion decreases the level of visibility of an image region relating to the previous image, according to an elapsed time after the previous image is captured.

    • The invention relates to an operating device that includes: an operating portion in which an operation switch is disposed; a display portion that allows stereoscopic vision to be viewed by naked-eye; an image pickup mechanism that takes pictures of a hand of a user operating the operating portion, from a plurality of directions; and a displayed image generation device that generates a stereoscopic image of the hand based on parallax images obtained from the image pickup device. An operation menu image that depicts a position of the operation switch in the operating portion and a function of the operation switch, and a stereoscopic image of the hand generated by the displayed image generation device, and the compounded image is displayed in the display.
