摘要： An example apparatus for obtaining a desired magnetic field distribution from an incident magnetic field, such as a kHz magnetic field, comprises a structure receiving the incident magnetic field and generating the desired magnetic field distribution at a predetermined distance from the transmitting side of the apparatus. Examples of the invention also include design methods and methods of using the apparatus.

The near field plate has a spatially modulated surface reactance configured to focus the magnetic flux within a region of the plunger, such as the central portion of an end portion of the plunger proximate the electromagnet, so as to increase the magnetic force between the electromagnet and plunger. Examples also include permanent magnet based actuators and the use of other magnetic field focusing devices.
