    • A method and system for identifying telemarketer communications directed to a subscriber of a call screening service is provided. A link monitoring system monitors all inbound and outbound calls of a carrier network collecting data such as calling and called telephone directory numbers, and a termination status for at least each inbound call to a calling number. The data is analyzed at a telemarketer detection module to determine calling patterns of calling numbers. If a calling pattern of a calling telephone number matches a profile of telemarketer communications, the calling number is stored in a database of telephone directory numbers associated with telemarketer communications. A call is received from a calling party directed to a subscriber of the call screening service. Then a determination is made as to whether a telephone directory number of the calling party is known. If the telephone number of the calling party is known, a determination is made as to whether the telephone number of the calling party matches a telephone number stored in the database of telephone numbers associated with telemarketer communications. If a match exists, the call is intercepted from reaching the subscriber of the call screening service.

    • A method and system for routing service calls made from lines resold to a competitive service provider includes advanced intelligent network and standard switching functionality. The call may be made into an AIN service switching point (60) or a non-AIN switch (62-64). All calls are routed to an AIN hub (190), such as a service switching point, via a trunk group. The AIN or non-AIN switch may access a line class code table (160-164) to determine the proper routing information. Calls made from resold lines are routed to the AIN hub (190). Once the call is routed to the AIN hub, a trigger (187) provisioned on the AIN hub and assigned to the incoming trunk group causes the hub to suspend the call and launch a query to a service control point (200). The query includes the directory number of the resold calling line and the originally dialed number. The SCP (670) accesses a data-base (675) containing directory numbers for resold lines and identifiers for competitive service providers. Once the carrier is located, additional tables may be accessed to determine the routing information specified by the carrier for handling the call. The routing information is transmitted by the SCP (670) back to the SSP (610). The SSP (610) then routes the call to the specified location.

The remote call notification is transmitted to a remote communication device such as a PC, an interactive pager, and a mobile phone. The call notification includes a calling number, the name of a calling party, time and date identifiers, status identifiers that provides a real-time status of the incoming communication, a disposition identifier, and a priority identifier. A remote call notification method including detecting an incoming communication to a subscriber's wireline communication device, creating a remote call notification, assigning an access address associated with a remote communication device, and forwarding the remote call notification to the remote communication device.

    • Methods for remote control of a wireless unit such as remote power-on and remote power-off. An authorized user may send a power-on communication to a remote wireless unit. The power-on communication may be sent by way of an activation system. The wireless unit may be in a sleep state or be turned-off. In response to receipt of the power-on communication or a signal from the activation system, the wireless unit powers-on and may power-on through a remote power-on function. The power-on communication or the signal that initiates the power-on may include a security mechanism necessary to power-on the wireless unit. The user may be provided with confirmation of the power-on of the wireless unit, or the user may be connected in a communication with the wireless unit. Similarly, a wireless unit that is powered-on may be remotely powered-off.

    • During a telephone call, a transferring party performs an action to cause the telephone call to be transferred. The action causes a switch to send a query to a service control point (SCP) in a public-switched telephone network (PSTN). The SCP determines a transfer telephone number to which the telephone call is transferred. The transfer telephone number can be stored in a subscriber information table. The SCP determines the transfer telephone number and returns the transfer telephone number to the switch sending the query. The switch makes a telephone call to the transfer telephone number to cause a telephone associated with the transfer telephone number to ring. When the telephone associated with the transfer telephone number is answered, the transferring party disconnects from the telephone call to complete the transfer of the telephone call. A services node can also be used to determine the transfer telephone number. In addition, other telephone services, such as three-way calling can be selected by the transferring party.
