    • A distributed file system intelligently allocates portions of a file system from a server to one or more clients on a network. File system data used during power-on of a client may be stored on the client. A retrieval of the file system may subsequently be made to the extent the client has capacity to store the file system. A multicast operation, performed as a background operation on the client, may be used to retrieve the file system. For portions of the file system not allocated to the client, the client may still access the file system from the server. Network bandwidth may thus be reduced and client access to the file system may generally be more efficient.

    • An analyzer for analyzing the flash point of a product in a process comprising a steam stripper receiving a stream of material and receiving steam includes sensors sensing the temperatures of the material, the steam and the product which provide corresponding signals. Other sensors sense the flow rates of the material, the steam, and the product and provide corresponding signals. The pressure in the top of the stripper is also sensed and a corresponding signal provided. Apparatus samples the product and provides signals corresponding to at least two predetermined parameters of the product. A circuit receiving the signals from the sensors, and from the apparatus provide a signal corresponding to the flash point temperature of the product in accordance with the signals from the sensors and the apparatus.

    • A draw rate signal generator for an atmospheric crude distillation unit receiving crude oil and providing streams 1 through 5 and a reduced crude oil includes flow rate sensors sensing the flow rates of the crude oil and of streams 1 through 4 and providing corresponding signals. Analyzers sample the crude oil and provide signals corresponding to the 35% point temperature, the API gravity and the vapor pressure of the crude oil.
