    • In a liquid crystal display device having wall structures, the generation of low-temperature shock bubbles is suppressed. Also, electrodes and the like within substrates are prevented from being damaged during manufacturing. The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate that is disposed to face the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer that is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, wall structures that are formed on the first substrate, pixel electrodes that are disposed on at least side wall of the wall structures, a common electrode that is formed on the first substrate, and a plurality of pixels including the pixel electrodes and the common electrode, in which higher portions are partially disposed on a surface of the second substrate, and the higher portions come into contact with the wall structures to bring the first substrate into contact with the second substrate.

    • A wall electrode IPS mode LCD has stabilized domain boundary. Signal and scanning lines extend in first and second directions, respectively, surrounding a pixel. A first wall structure has a first portion intersecting the first direction at a first angle, a second portion in the first direction, and a third portion intersecting the first direction at a second angle. The second portion has a first projection in the second direction. The second wall structure has a fourth portion intersecting the first direction at the first angle, a fifth portion in the first direction, and a sixth portion intersecting the first direction at the second angle. The fifth portion has a second projection in the second direction. A distance between the first projection and the fifth portion is shorter than a distance between the first wall structure except the first projection and the second wall structure.

    • A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal composition, a thin film transistor substrate as an insulation substrate on which a thin film transistor for controlling the orientation of the liquid crystal composition is provided, and a color filter substrate which seals the liquid crystal composition between itself and the thin film transistor substrate and controls a wavelength region of the transmitted light. The thin film transistor substrate includes a projection part extending from the thin film transistor substrate to the color filter substrate side, and a wall-like electrode on a wall surface of the projection part, which is one electrode for controlling the orientation of the liquid crystal composition. An insulation film and an orientation film are sequentially laminated on the wall-like electrode continuously from a surface parallel to a substrate surface.

    • A liquid crystal display device has a pair of wall electrodes facing each other, which is disposed on pixels on a first substrate, functions as one of pixel electrodes and a common electrode, and takes a posture of standing on the first substrate. Also, the liquid crystal display device has a center electrode that is disposed between the pair of wall electrodes, functions as the other of the pixel electrodes and the common electrode, has a convexity lower in height than the pair of wall electrodes, and makes a width in a direction along which the pair of wall electrodes faces each other gradually smaller toward the second substrate. According to this liquid crystal display device, since a vertical electric field can be prevented from being developed on an upper side of the center electrode, a transmittance of light can be improved.

    • The liquid crystal display device includes a pixel structure provided with a large wall formed along a long side of a pixel with a rectangular plane, a small wall formed at a center of the pixel and extending in the same direction as the large wall, a wall electrode formed on a wall surface of the large wall, a plane electrode formed between the small and large walls, in which the wall electrode and the plane electrode form a pixel electrode, and a common electrode formed on a surface of the small wall. The large wall has a part with an increased thickness at an end part of the pixel. The wall electrode is bent toward the center of the pixel. This structure prevents decrease of reverse twist of liquid crystal at an end part of the pixel as well as generation of domain, thus improving transmittance of the screen.
