The multimedia scene includes a plurality of multimedia objects organized in the form of at least one scene description tree. Such a method includes the following steps: associating with the scene description tree(s) a sub-tree of the objects to be restored, including objects intended to be restored at a given instant, and a standby sub-tree, including objects intended not to be restored at the given instance; identifying at least one object, termed the transferable object, that can be transferred from a first of the sub-trees to the second of the sub-trees as a function of at least one predetermined transfer condition.
