    • A fixing device includes a primary winding, a fixing portion, a secondary winding, and a magnetic core body. The primary winding is configured to receive a supply of AC current from an AC power source. The fixing portion includes a heat source that generates heat when an electric current is supplied to the heat source, the fixing portion being configured to execute a fixing process onto a sheet with a toner image formed on the sheet, at a predetermined fixing temperature by using the heat from the heat source. The secondary winding is electrically connected to the heat source. The primary winding and the secondary winding are wound around the magnetic core body. The magnetic core body is made of a predetermined material whose permeability is lowered when a temperature thereof becomes equal to or higher than the predetermined fixing temperature upon receiving the heat from the heat source.

    • An image forming apparatus is provided which shortens the time for image formation, thereby improving the convenience. To achieve this, the control part of the image forming apparatus has a job data acquisition part and a conveyance speed control part. The job data acquisition part acquires job data from an operation panel part, a document reading part, an external terminal, or the like. The conveyance speed control part measures the temperature of a temperature sensor at the time of initial start-up operation of conveying a recording sheet, and at the time when the recording sheet has reached a registration roller pair, respectively. Further, the conveyance speed control part selects whether or not to wait for a prescribed waiting time and whether or not to reduce the fixing speed below a normal speed, according to a condition corresponding to the respective measured temperatures.

    • In an image reading device, a reading control portion reads image data for one line in a main scanning direction from a first reference member having a reference color. A storage portion stores initial reference data for one line generated based on image data for a plurality of lines read from a second reference member by using an image reading portion while a surface of the second reference member having the reference color is moving in a sub scanning direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction. A reference data generation portion generates reference data based on the image data read by the reading control portion and a high-frequency component of the initial reference data stored in the storage portion. A shading correction portion performs shading correction for image data read from a document by the image reading portion, based on the reference data generated by the reference data generation portion.
