    • A Voice-over-IP-(VoIP-) telephony computer system includes a client computer (1) with a web browser (20) installed and which is connectable to a network (4) with access to the public Internet (6), a web server (101) which can be reached over the public Internet (6) from said client computer (1), a gateway computer (102) which can be reached over the public Internet (6) from said client computer (1), a VoIP private branch exchange (PBX) device (9) which can be reached from said gateway computer (102), wherein the VoIP telephone computer system is adapted to run following steps of establishing and maintaining a VoIP telephone connection between the client computer (1) on the one hand and the gateway computer (102) and the VoIP PBX device (9) on the other hand: the client computer (1), using the web browser (20), downloads an applet type application (30), which is adapted to establish a VoIP telephone connection from said web server (101), said downloaded applet type application (30) establishes a tunnel connection (50) to said gateway computer (102) and installs a SIP telephony client (40) on said client computer (1), and all VoIP telephone connection related data between the client computer (1) and the gateway computer (102) and vice versa are transferred using the tunnel connection (50).

    • A computer communication system, comprising a client computer (1) with an installed virtual private network (VPN) client (41) and located in a public network (3), at least one server computer (9a, 9b, 9c) located in a corporate network (8), a web server (10) remote from said client computer (1), a gateway computer (20) located in said corporate network, and a VPN server computer (30) located in said corporate network (8). The computer communication system is adapted to run following steps of providing a safe VPN communication connection between said client (1) and at least one of said server computers (9a, 9b, 9c): said client computer (1), using a WEB browser (40), downloads an application (12) from said VPN server computer (30), and said downloaded application (12) automatically configures the VPN client (41) installed on said client computer (1) and establishes a tunnelled connection (50) from said client computer (1) to said corporate network (8), wherein all packets generated by the installed VPN client (41) are forwarded through said tunnelled connection (50) via the gateway computer (20) to the VPN server (30) in said corporate network (8).

    • A method for transmitting a message by compressed data transmission between a sender and a receiver using connectionless or connection oriented protocols. The sender gateway assures that the appropriate handling of the message data is made by knowing the transmission protocol(s) used. T The rules and structures of the protocol(s) must be known to be able to use a compression method ideally suited to the needs of the particular protocol. Both gateways analyze the data stream between sender and receiver, compress outgoing and decompressing incoming data. For connection oriented protocols, differently structured data structures are transmitted during a connection. To distinguish different data structures, the gateway providing for compression examines the data to be transmitted and, by knowing the definition of the protocol used and the state of the machine, it can control the compression to use a file-oriented compression on certain parts of the data stream.
