    • A pickup coil includes a sensing unit having an iron core, a permanent magnet magnetically coupled to a rear end position of the iron core, and a coil for sensing a change of magnetic flux occurring in the iron core; and a supporting frame member. The sensing unit is molded with a cup-shaped resin case. The sensing unit is integrally molded with the supporting frame member and is mounted on a mounting object via the supporting frame member. A plurality of weight units for adjusting a characteristic frequency of the coil is stored in a weight storage section formed inside the resin case at a position spaced away from the supporting frame member. The weight storage section is sized such that one or more weight units are accommodated therein.

    • A vehicle power unit including a speed reducing gear train including a starter driven gear, a starting one-way clutch interposed between the starter driven gear and a crankshaft. The speed reducing gear train and the starting one-way clutch are provided between a starter motor and the crankshaft. A transmission includes gear trains for a plurality of gear speeds wherein the gear trains are provided between a main shaft and a counter shaft. A hybrid type configuration is possible wherein the starter motor produces power for driving the vehicle and to impart a drive assisting force. The starter motor can be changed over between a normal rotational operation and a reverse rotational operation. A power transmission idle gear is interposed between the starter driven gear and a power transmitting gear through a running one-way clutch for permitting power transmission to the side of the main shaft.

    • A vehicle speed display apparatus capable of displaying an accurate vehicle speed in either 2WD mode or in 4WD mode. A vehicle speed calculating unit 51 calculates the vehicle speed, according to the output from a wheel rotational speed sensor 22. A 2WD/4WD detecting unit 52 switches the destination of the vehicle speed calculated by the vehicle speed-calculating unit 51 between a 2WD correcting unit 53 and a 4WD correcting unit 54, depending whether the vehicle is traveling in 2WD mode or in 4WD mode. The 2WD correcting unit 53 corrects the vehicle speed in the 2WD mode using a first correction coefficient for the 2WD mode, and the 4WD correcting unit 54 corrects the vehicle speed in the 4WD mode using a second correction coefficient for the 4WD mode. The corrected vehicle speed is displayed by a vehicle speed display unit 55.
