    • A disk unit is capable of detecting a track, the track width of which deviates from a normal value, with high accuracy at high speed. A HDD includes a read head, a disk and defective-track detecting part. The disk has servo data including bursts A, B written thereon. The servo data is used to position the read head to a track center. The defective-track detecting part detects a defective track as below. The sum of the amplitude of bursts A and B, which have been read by the read head by one read operation, is divided by the amplitude of a burst C or D to obtain a compared value. If the compared value deviates from a criterion by a specified percentage or more, it is judged that the track width of a track is abnormal. Since bursts A through D are written without trimming, the size of bursts A through D in the track width direction are kept constant regardless of the track width. Accordingly, a gap G fluctuating in accordance with the track width is formed in the radial direction between bursts A and B. Bursts A and B are read at a position including gap G, and the above-mentioned compared value is determined, and thereby a defective track is detected.

    • A speaker includes a ring-shaped vibrating member fixed to an internal support body at an internal peripheral edge, and a bobbin attached to an external peripheral edge thereof. A voice coil is attached to the bobbin and is located in a magnetic gap. A ring-shaped control member faces a front portion of the vibrating member, and a sound pass space is formed at an external peripheral side of the control member and at an internal peripheral side thereof. When listening to the speaker from a diagonal location, treble sound waves generated from the left side area are perturbed by the control member so as to prevent interference from sound waves generated from bilaterally separated areas, which prevents a decrease of treble sound pressure levels.

    • A speaker includes a magnet, a yoke, and a coil. A surface of the magnet opposed to the yoke includes a first magnetized surface at one side in the moving direction of the coil and a second magnetized surface at the other side in the moving direction of the coil. The two magnetized surfaces have the same magnetic polarity. A central surface between the first magnetized surface and the second magnetized surface is not magnetized or is magnetized more weakly than the first magnetized surface and the second magnetized surface. The single magnet of this structure forms the same magnetic force distribution as two separate magnets so that the speaker provides a superior linearity of driving force of the coil.

    • A spacer for mounting around the outer peripheral surface of a bobbin. The spacer has first and second edge surfaces formed in a circular arc shape. Subsequent to the formation of a first coil by winding wire around the bobbin, the wire is continuously curved from a distal end portion of the first coil along the first edge surface of the spacer. After making a U-turn of substantially 180 degrees, the wire is wound to form the second coil. Upon completion of winding of the second coil, the wire is guided along the second edge surface, from an end portion of the second coil, and a second portion of the first coil is wound. The portion of the wire for connecting both of the first and second coils is free from bent corners, thus avoiding the generation of stress concentration. Also, the wire is guided by smooth and curved edge surfaces of the spacer, thus preventing damage to a coating on the wire.
