    • The present invention provides a quality based resource management fin a radio communications system. In this resource management, channel resources are dynamically allocated to a multi-resource capable mobile unit based on a radio quality of a radio link between the mobile unit and an associated base station. Thus, the amount of these resources to be allocated to the mobile unit is determined based on this radio quality and can be dynamically updated based on new quality reports. A high experienced quality means that more resources are allocated. The quality based resource allocation can also be combined with a quality based transmission scheduling. In such a case, mobile units experiencing a high quality are allowed to transmit more often in a period of time than mobile units with low quality.

    • A quality of service profile for a mobile communication subscriber unit is determined and includes one or more mobile-specific desired quality of service parameters. Actual values for the service parameter(s) is(are) determined and fed back to a link quality controller to determine whether they are in an acceptable range or relationship with corresponding actual quality of service parameter values. A modulation and/or coding scheme for transmitting the information over the radio link is selected or adjusted based on whether the desired and actual quality of service parameters are in an acceptable range or acceptable relationship. A combined “desired” quality of service parameter using the first and second quality of service parameters (or more if desired) may be determined. A combined “actual” quality of service parameter using first and second actual quality service parameter values is determined. Those combined desired and actual quality of service parameters are compared to determine whether they are in an acceptable range or relationship. The modulation or coding scheme (or both) is (are) selected or adjusted based thereon.

    • The present invention pertains to the field of data communications and is directed to providing ways and means for flexible receipt reporting. A transceiving unit (1) is operated (61) to receive at least one sequence of data blocks (9) where the data blocks each have a respective sequence number (31). The receipt of the data blocks is monitored (63) to establish whether the data blocks have been successfully received or not. A receipt report is selectively generated (65) based at least in part on the performed monitoring. The receipt report includes at least one data part in accordance with a predetermined data format, which includes at least a first data portion (41) with information (BSN_NACK) identifying a sequence number of one data block in the sequence that has not been successfully received and a second data portion (43) with information (BSN_MAP) on whether or not successful receipt has been achieved for a number of data blocks in the sequence having sequence numbers following directly after the identified sequence number. The receipt report is provided in a generated data block (11) that is transmitted from the transceiving unit (1). The invention is applicable to all forms of data communications, including wireless data communications.
