    • A near field communication device is disclosed herein. An example of such a device includes a user interface and an application that displays information on the user interface. The device also includes a non-transitory storage medium including a list of data elements that may appear within the information displayed in the user interface and a near field communication filter module to automatically extract any of the data elements from the information displayed on the user interface via the application. The example additionally includes a near field communication write module to automatically record any of the extracted data elements transferred by the near field communication filter module to a near field communication data tag. Examples of a method for use in a near field communication device and a non-transitory storage medium are also disclosed herein.

    • A graphical user interface for accessing, managing, organizing and using local and online content from a personal computer. The graphical user interface is divided into several modules, displayed on the display screen of the computer. Some of these modules are categories, which contain links to content online and on the hard drive of the computer. The user can customize these categories and the links within them to suit his or her personal needs, interests, and tastes. One or more of the modules within the GUI are media players. The user can select content by dragging and dropping a link from the desktop, another application, or a category within the GUI onto the media player. Applications required to access content referred to by links within the categories of the graphical user interface are launched at the time that the GUI is launched.

    • An exemplary method for handling a hidden dialog in a media centered graphical user environment is presented including: detecting the hidden dialog; determining whether the hidden dialog is an approved dialog; if the hidden dialog is an approved dialog, providing a notification to a user of the hidden dialog such that the media centered graphical user environment is interrupted; and if the hidden dialog is not an approved dialog, ignoring the hidden dialog such that the media centered graphical user environment is uninterrupted. In some embodiments, the hidden dialog originates from any WINDOWS™ compatible program. In some embodiments, the hidden dialog is a pop-up notification. In some embodiments, the approved dialog is user configurable. In some embodiments, the approved dialog may be: a programmatic subscription dialog, a programmatic update dialog, a programmatic alert dialog, and a system alert dialog.

The method includes displaying on the television set, using test image information from the image-generating electronic device, a test image. The method also includes receiving, from a human operator, user input. The method further includes employing the user input to form scaled test image information that corresponds to a scaled test image, the scaled test image representing a scaled version of the test image. The method yet also includes displaying on the television set, using the scaled test image information, the scaled test image on the television set in lieu of the test image.
