    • A joining device for joining a component to a workpiece. The device includes a component holder which moves the component along an axis in a first direction towards the workpiece in order to connect the component to the workpiece, and has a protective gas feed in order to carry out a welding process in a protective gas atmosphere. During the welding process the protective gas is discharged essentially in a second direction which is opposed to the first direction. An elastic sealing sleeve including folding bellows is arranged in relation to the component holder in such a way that a welding space, which is bounded by the workpiece, the component holder, the component and the sealing sleeve and through which the protective gas flows, is sealed off from the external surroundings during the welding process so that the protective gas can escape only in the second direction.

    • A method for holding a plastic fastener on a holding device in a position for transfer to an assembly tool, the method comprising the steps of: locating the fastening element in proximity to the holding device and oriented so that a thin wall on the fastener is aligned with the axis of a projecting needle on the holding device; pressing the fastening element and the holding device together; piercing the thin wall with the projecting needle; forming an opening through the thin wall; and frictionally engaging the needle with the thin wall edge that defines the opening to thereby hold the fastener on the holding device in the transfer position.

    • A vehicle heating and/or air-conditioning system has an automatic heating and air-conditioning function. In a manual control mode, corresponding to an air quantity settable by the user with a first setting device and a desired interior temperature settable by a second setting device, a manual control of the actual interior temperature and the air quantity takes place.
