    • A radio access network (RAN) may receive signals with a plurality of antennas. Each antenna may receive a respective incoming signal. Based on the received signals, the RAN may determine an interference factor that relates to interference across the various respective incoming signals received by each antenna. The RAN may also use various criteria and formulas to calculate the interference factor. Once the RAN determines the interference factor, the RAN may determine to operate the receiver in one of two modes. The RAN may operate either in a Maximal Ratio Combining mode or in an Interference Rejection Combining mode. The RAN may periodically re-determine the interference factor and responsively re-determine the operation mode.

    • A method and system of determining whether a mobile station is located inside (or moving into) a repeater's coverage area and using the determination in a handover procedure. An access network may receive from a mobile station communicating on a first wireless link an indication of channel quality for the first wireless link and a second wireless link that serve the same coverage area. The access network may then use the channel quality indicators to determine whether the mobile station is located inside (or moving into) a repeater's coverage area, such as by comparing the channel quality indicators. If the access network determines that the mobile station is located inside (or moving into) the repeater's coverage area, it may also initiate a handover of the communication with the mobile station to the repeated wireless link (e.g., which may include suspending application of a load threshold to the repeated wireless link).

    • A system and method of a hybrid scheme of DL link adaptation in a network having mobile stations (MSs) in communication with a base station (BS). The system may include a mode decision module associated with the base station. The mode decision module may include one or more processors configured to select a first mode configuration for use during transmission of a first communication from the base station. The BS may receive first feedback information associated with the first communication, where the first feedback information includes a first mode recommendation and first channel information. Based on the first feedback information, the BS may generate a BS-derived mode configuration based on the first channel information and compare the first mode recommendation and the BS-derived mode configuration. Based on the comparison, the BS may determine a second mode configuration to use to configure a second communication.
