    • A light emitting device has a light emitting element, and a high-refractive index layer that contacts an emission surface of the light emitting element. The high-refractive index layer has transparent fine particles uniformly arranged along the emission surface. The fine particles has a refractive index high than that of a material composing the emission surface of the light emitting element. Otherwise, a light emitting device has a light emitting element, a sealing material for sealing the light emitting element, and a high-refractive index layer that contacts an emission surface of the light emitting element. A phosphor may be included in the sealing material which is adapted to emit a wavelength-converted light by being excited by a light emitted from the light emitting element. The phosphor may have a same matrix as the fine particles, and it may be formed spherical. The light emitting element may be a face-up type light emitting element or a flip-chip type light emitting element.

    • The medicine packing machine is equipped with a loading unit that is capable of receiving and delivering vials retrieved from a stocker, and a supplying unit that is capable of delivering the vials from the loading unit in an upright position. A control unit is also disposed between the loading unit and the supplying unit. As a result of the presence of the control unit, the transfer of vials received by the loading unit is controlled by the control unit in such a manner that the vials are not ejected towards the supplying unit. The vials are also controlled so as to be in an upright position once loaded into the loading unit. As a result of these actions, the vials received by the loading unit are reliably delivered to the supplying unit without being ejected or jamming at unanticipated locations.

    • The present invention provides a rights management terminal that can securely send and receive usage information while preventing spoofing and protecting user's privacy. The rights management terminal manages a copyright of a content using a license that includes a usage rule of the content, and includes: a first public key certificate management unit which manages, as a set, a first public key certificate that includes identification information for uniquely identifying at least one of the rights management terminal and a user using the terminal, and a first private key paired with a first public key included in the first public key certificate; a second public key certificate management unit which manages, as a set, a second public key certificate that does not include the identification information, and a second private key paired with a second public key included in the second public key certificate; a selection processing unit that selects, as a set, one of the following: the first public key certificate and the first private key; and the second public key certificate and the second private key; and an authentication processing unit that executes authentication for communicating with a server apparatus, using the public key and the private key that are selected as a set by the selection processing unit.

    • A data copying system of the present invention includes a data copying apparatus for copying data recorded on a first recording medium to a second recording medium. The data copying apparatus includes: a data read section for reading out the data from the first recording medium; a data modification control section for controlling modification of the data in accordance with modification control information, the modification control information being provided for controlling the modification of the data; and a data write section for writing an output of the data modification control section to the second recording medium. The modification control information includes a copying permission flag indicating whether the copying of the data permitted, a quality control flag for controlling a quality of modified data which is obtained by modifying the data, and a billing control flag for controlling billing for the copying of the data. The data modification control section determines whether billing is required for the copying of the data in accordance with the billing control flag. When the billing is required, the data modification control section controls the modification of the data in accordance with the copying permission flag and the quality control flag, after confirming that the billing has been done by the billing apparatus. When the billing is not required, the data modification control section controls the modification of the data in accordance with the copying permission flag and the quality control flag, without confirming that the billing has been done by the billing apparatus.
