    • The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus having, a first color conversion unit which executes first color conversion with respect to an image, a first image output unit which reproduces/outputs the image based on an output of the first color conversion unit, a second color conversion unit which executes second color conversion with respect to the same image, and a color conversion output synthesis unit which synthesizes a third color conversion output using outputs of the first and second color conversion units, wherein the apparatus selects one of outputs of the first color conversion unit and the color conversion output synthesis unit to thereby restore the color of the original image before the compression from the compressed image.

    • A color image processing device is disclosed which has an increased degree of freedom in black-coloring processing and permits color images which have good color reproducibility and are less susceptible to position displacement in black-colored portions to be output. The device includes a minimum detector circuit, a first lookup table for determining the amount of black material (K), a second lookup table for determining the amount of black material (k1) in color materials which has one of 256 values from 0 to 255, a third lookup table for determining the amount by which the underlying color is removed (k2) which has one of 256 values from 0 to 255, and three subtracters and three dividers for processing the outputs of the lookup tables to calculate C′, M′ and Y′ indicating the amounts of color materials used in the printer. The amount of black material and the amount of black material mixed with each of C, M and Y are controlled according to the relations: K=&agr;×min(C, M, Y) C′=(C−k1)/(255−k2) M′=(M−k1)/(255−k2)and Y′=(Y−k1)/(255−k2) where &agr; is a black rate of up to 100%.

    • According to one embodiment, a color correction apparatus includes an input portion, a storing portion and a correction portion. The input portion inputs color image signals which correspond to recording color material amounts. The storing portion stores a standard color reproduction parameter for calculating a standard color reproduction chromaticity and reference chromaticity deviation amounts at a plurality of reference color points in recording color material amount coordinate space. The correction portion estimates chromaticity deviation amounts of the input color image signals on the basis of the reference chromaticity deviation amount, calculates a standard chromaticity which corresponds to the input color image signals on the basis of the standard color reproduction parameter and corrects the input color image signals on the basis of the estimated chromaticity deviation amounts and the standard chromaticity.
