摘要： A self-aligned optical coupler for connecting an optical waveguide circuit with another optical waveguide circuit. Each waveguide circuit has a plug with an aligned structure. The plugs of the respective waveguide circuits are inserted into a receptacle having alignment structures. The alignment structures of the first and second plugs are mated in such a fashion with the receptacle so that there is optical alignment between the plugs so that optical signals can propagate from one waveguide to another. The structures may attain alignment through physical or visual approaches.

The ferrule is inserted in a connector receptacle at one end. The waveguide has a forty-five degree reflector at its end. The waveguide is attached to a cover. The cover is attached to another end of the connector receptacle so that the reflector and the end of the optical fiber face each other. The features on the waveguide and the ferrule are aligned with each other to provide optical alignment between the reflector of the waveguide and the end of the fiber.

摘要： A method and system is disclosed for locking and releasing a module utilized in a transceiver system that includes a plurality of modules in close proximity with one another. The module is generally configured to include a handle with an associated cam formed in a first section of the module. The handle is moveable in a direction to allow the cam to move an associated ejector button integrated with the module in order to release the module from the transceiver system, thereby permitting the module to be efficiently removed from the transceiver system. The module may thus be removed from the transceiver system utilizing the handle. The module may be locked into the transceiver system when the handle is placed in an upward position.

Conductive traces are disposed on a wall such that a front part of the traces are exposed for external electrical connections, while the back part is exposed for internal electrical connections. A transparent substrate having a plurality of micro-lenses cover the base, walls and opto-electronic semiconductor array device. Each micro lens is beneficially made from optical epoxy that is deposited by an ink-jet nozzle. The base and walls are beneficially comprised of a ceramic.
