    • Devices and methods providing for a isolation connector for a generally cylindrical or frustro-cylindrical housing of an implantable intravascular medical device are described herein. The isolation connector has a generally annular exterior surface, a proximal end, and a distal end. The isolation connector includes a housing interface portion at the proximal end which is secured to a first end of the housing. The proximal end of the housing interface portion is constructed to be obverse to the first end of the housing and presents a perimeter of substantially similar size and shape to the perimeter of the first end of the housing. The isolation connector further includes a first insulator portion disposed adjacent to a distal end of the housing interface portion. The isolation connector may further include a feed-through channel constructed to traverse the proximal and distal ends of the isolation connector and is defined through the housing interface portion and the first insulator portion. In an optional embodiment, an electrical conductor is disposed within the feed-through channel to electrically coupled at least one component disposed within the housing to at least one component disposed beyond the insulator portion.

    • An intravascular implantable medical device includes a detachable tether arrangement. In one embodiment, the detachable tether arrangement comprises a tip assembly that includes a break-away joint and a tether portion, and may also include a connector and an extension portion connected to an end of an elongated intravascular implantable medical device. In this embodiment, the break-away joint is disposed between the extension portion and the tether portion. In some embodiments, the extension portion may comprise a housing or other arrangement that includes an antenna for transmitting and receiving data. In other embodiments, the extension portion may also include a lead for defibrillation, pacing, and/or sensing cardiac electrical activity. In certain embodiments, the tether arrangement is designed to be secured within a patient's vasculature with a vascular anchor either in the form of a separate anchor, such as a conventional stent, or by various integrated retention arrangements.

    • A method of treating autonomic imbalance in a patient includes energizing a first therapeutic element disposed in a superior vena cava of the patient to deliver therapy to a parasympathetic nerve fiber (e.g. vagus nerve), and energizing a second therapeutic element disposed within the superior vena cava to deliver therapy to a sympathetic cardiac nerve fiber. A neuromodulation system includes a parasympathetic therapy element adapted for positioning within a blood vessel, a sympathetic therapy element adapted for positioning within the blood vessel; and a stimulator to energize the parasympathetic therapy element to deliver parasympathetic therapy to a parasympathetic nerve fiber disposed external to the blood vessel and energize the sympathetic therapy element within the blood vessel to deliver sympathetic therapy to a sympathetic nerve fiber disposed external to the blood vessel. The therapy decreases the patient's heart rate and elevates or maintains the blood pressure of the patient.
