摘要： The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for evaluating a porous earth formation. The method may include: generating an acoustic wave in a borehole fluid; measuring an attenuation of the acoustic wave; and estimating a permeability of an earth formation acoustically coupled to the borehole fluid using the estimated attenuation and a theoretical attenuation. The method may also include estimating a theoretical attenuation for the borehole fluid using acoustic properties of the borehole fluid. The apparatus for performing the method may include: an acoustic source, an acoustic sensor, and a processor configured to estimate the attenuation of an acoustic wave generated by the acoustic source.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for estimating a property of an earth formation penetrated by a borehole. The method includes: transmitting acoustic waves into the formation from an acoustic source disposed in the borehole and away from a wall of the borehole; generating radial acoustic eigenwaves within a space between the wall of the borehole and the acoustic source using the transmitted acoustic waves; receiving an acoustic signal with an acoustic receiver disposed at the wall of the borehole; sensing an electric field signal with an electric field sensor disposed at the wall of the borehole; and estimating the property using the received acoustic signal and the sensed electric field signal.

The method may include estimating a value of at least one parameter of interest of the earth formation using a signal indicative of acoustic waves generated at a metallic surface (200) in communication with the earth formation when the metallic surface (200) is exposed to a constant magnetic field (250) normal to the metallic surface (200) and a harmonic magnetic field (260) along the metallic surface. The signal may be generated by a sensor responsive to the acoustic waves. The apparatus may include a first magnetic source (230) configured to generate a constant magnetic field (250), a second magnetic source (240) configured to generate a harmonic magnetic field (260), and a sensor (220) configured to generate a signal in response to acoustic waves.

摘要： A system and method to determine a length of a fracture induced from a borehole are described. The method includes isolating a portion of the borehole, the portion of the borehole including an end of the fracture at the borehole wall, increasing fluid pressure in the portion of the borehole, deploying a low-frequency source in the portion of the borehole, and varying a frequency of the low-frequency source to generate resonance oscillations at a resonance frequency in the fracture. The method also includes determining the length of the fracture based on the resonance frequency.

The method may include performing dielectric permittivity estimates using an electromagnetic tool in a borehole. The apparatus may include the electromagnetic tool and at least one processor configured to store information obtained by the electromagnetic tool in a memory. The at least one processor may also be configured to estimate at least one property of the earth formation.
