摘要： In a digital broadcast receiving apparatus, a receiver receives video packets or audio packets configuring a program of digital broadcast. A selector selects a part of the video packets or the audio packets of each channel received by the receiver. A determination unit determines whether or not decoding of the part of the packets selected by the selector has been completed normally. 摘要： A channel selection device of the invention used in a digital/analog broadcasting receiver, upon reception of a channel changing instruction sent from input device, tries to select a desired channel by referencing its VCT if it can find channel information in a memory and, if it could not find the desired channel and failed in channel selection, obtains the latest VCT to thereby select such a channel in the VCT that has the smallest sub-channel number in the same main channel or select such a channel that has the smallest sub-channel number in the same physical channel. Thus, if a channel specified in the channel changing instruction sent from the user has no broadcast therethrough and failed to be selected, an appropriate channel is selected automatically, thus avoiding a state that nothing is displayed on the display.

摘要： A television signal receiver comprises a tuner, a decoder, a first storage medium that stores a frame of video signals extracted by the decoder as a captured image, a second storage medium that stores sound data representing a variety of shutter sounds to be generated for informing a user that a captured image has been stored in the first storage medium, and a sound generating circuit that, when a captured image is stored in the first storage medium, selects a shutter sound among the variety of shutter sounds represented by the sound data stored in the second storage medium and generates the selected shutter sound. Since the television signal receiver is configured to generate a shutter sound when a captured image is stored in the first storage medium, it can inform a user about storage of a captured image in the first storage medium without causing video images of a television program to be partly hidden from view. Further, since the television signal receiver is capable of generating the variety of shutter sounds, it can provide a user with various kinds of information by varying the shutter sound to be generated.

摘要： A television receiver is connected to a smart antenna, and comprises: a tuner for receiving, and measuring signal intensity of, a television signal; an OSD superimposer for superimposing, on the television signal, an image indicating an active receiving direction of the antenna; and a microprocessor for outputting, to the antenna and respective elements of the television receiver, various signals including a receiving direction control signal. Based on the signal intensity, the microprocessor determines the active receiving direction of the antenna, and outputs a receiving direction control signal to the antenna, and further outputs a signal indicating the active receiving direction of the antenna to the OSD superimposer which is connected to a monitor for image display. The antenna comprises: a control unit for making active one receiving direction commanded by the receiving direction control signal; and a display for displaying the commanded receiving direction. A user can easily recognize the receiving direction of the antenna, either at the television receiver site or the antenna site.

The receiving unit receives digital broadcast signals including a plurality of sub-channels on each of a plurality of physical channels. The registering unit registers an indicator indicating whether or not each of the sub-channels is an audio channel in an indicator registration region of a channel map, which stores channel map information relating to a correspondence between the physical channels and the sub-channels. 摘要： When a digital broadcast is currently extracted and a switching direction instruction is accepted, determination is made as to which of a CH number (analog number) next to a currently extracted channel in the switching direction according to the order indicated in an analog CH map and a CH number (digital number) next to the currently extracted channel in the switching direction according to the order indicated in a digital channel map is closer to the number of the currently extracted channel (extracted number). When closer to the analog number, the channel is switched to the analog number. When closer to the digital number, the channel is switched to the digital number. Thus, the channel of analog and digital broadcasts can be switched in a seamless manner.
