    • A disc gang is provided that is suitable for use as part of a multifunctional seedbed preparation implement or in a standalone disc harrow. The disc gang is configured to permit a gang angle of the disc gang to be adjusted to accommodate differing soil conditions and/or to obtain different tillage characteristics. The disc gang may include a frame mounted on a mainframe of a primary tillage implement such as a cultivator. The frame includes a main beam mounted on the implement's mainframe and a disc support beam connected to the main beam and supporting a plurality of rotating discs. The gang angle can be infinitely adjusted through a designated range by pivoting one end of the disc gang about a vertical pivot axis while permitting another end portion of the disc gang to slide along a support surface for that end. The disc support beam may also be configured to be raised and lowered relative to the main beam so as to permit the cutting depth of the discs to be adjusted independently of the working depth of the remainder of the implement. The disc gang preferably is modular so as to negate the need for complex mechanical and hydraulic connections between the disc gang and the remainder of the implement.

    • An adjustment mechanism for use with farm implements or other equipment utilizes a series of alternating teeth and notches arranged in an arcuate pattern about an axis of adjusting movement on a movable member and a pair of arcuately spaced latching bars on a stationary member of the mechanism. The bars are individually shiftable into and out of engagement with the teeth and notches and are spaced apart such a distance that when either of the bars is in registration with a notch, the other bar is in registration with a tooth. Springs yieldably bias the bars toward the teeth and notches so that the bar aligned with a notch will snap down into the notch while the other bar resides in a standby position abutting the outer end of its tooth. When the seated bar is manually withdrawn from its notch, the movable member becomes unlatched and is free to be indexed one increment in either direction about the adjustment axis, whereupon the bar in the standby position snaps down into a notch brought under that bar, reestablishing a latched condition while the withdrawn bar becomes retained in its standby position by the outer end of its tooth. A double-acting lever having two fulcrum connections with the bars at their outer ends is successively raised and lowered about alternate ones of the fulcrum connections to manipulate the latching bars.

    • A ground opener unit for a seeding or planting unit includes an arm attachable to an implement frame and a disc rotatably mounted to the arm for forming a furrow in the ground. A scraper assembly includes a scraper plate defining a scraper edge for contacting and scraping a surface of the disc. The scraper plate defines a mounting region remote from the edge. A scraper plate mount secures the scraper plate adjacent the disc and a resilient pad of material is interposed between the plate mounting region and the scraper plate mount. A spaced pair of fasteners extend through the mounting region to secure the scraper plate and resilient pad to the scraper plate mount. The fasteners are located in selected positions in the mounting region relative to the resilient pad such that the scraper plate is capable of being tilted or rocked when said scraper edge encounters irregularities thus assisting the scraper edge to follow the disc surface during use.
