    • It is intended to, in a horizontal dry mill, prevent blow-up and adhesion of a raw material, etc., to a raw material input section. In a horizontal dry mill (10) of the present invention, a diameter of a raw material supply section (13) provided in a grinding tank (14) is set to be less than a diameter of a grinding chamber (12). Further, a diameter of a mechanical thrust generating device of the raw material supply section (13) is set to a small value according to the diameter of the raw material supply section. Furthermore, a gap (e1) between an outside dimension of a screw (26) as the mechanical thrust generating device and an inner diameter of the grinding tank (14) in the raw material supply section (13) is set between 0.5 mm and ⅓ of a diameter of each grinding medium M.

    • To provide a mill that can greatly reduce noise during operation and can also contribute to greater device compactness. The mill is provided with: a tubular drum body configured in a manner so that a material to be milled introduced from one section can be discharged from another section; a central shaft that penetrates within the drum body in the direction of tube length thereof; and a plurality of milling plates that are attached at a predetermined interval in the axial direction of the central shaft, and that compartmentalize the interior space of the drum body in to a plurality of milling chambers. The drum body and/or the milling plates rotate, and the mill does not have a milling medium that mills the material to be milled by contacting the material to be milled while rolling within the drum body.

    • A ball mill is provided with an agitator and comprises a grinding chamber containing grinding medium, a stator and a rotor which are arranged in said grinding chamber, an input opening for material to be ground and an output opening for ground material which are used for bringing the material to be ground to the grinding chamber and for evacuating the ground material therefrom. The mill also comprises a device for separating the grinding medium arranged in the grinding chamber above the output opening. The rotor is embodied in the form of a rotational symmetry body, and the stator is formed by an internal surface which is complementary to the grinding chamber. The inventive rotor and the stator are provided with pins which are distributed through all surface thereof and projected to the grinding chamber.

    • Improved cleanability and contamination prevention are provided in a wet milling apparatus for the production of pharmaceutical grade milled products. The advantages are provided by a milling agitator that is characterized by a smooth, seamless agitating surface, without crevices or seams which might accumulate contamination and which might prevent removal of contamination during cleaning. The use of polymeric milling media reduces wear on the agitator and permits the agitator to be constructed with permanent, smooth welded joints. Seamless joints are also provided on the interior of the milling chamber and sanitary, threadless fasteners are provided for the media separation screen and other milling chamber fittings.
