    • An apparatus for molding articles includes a first mold carrier configured to angularly displace relative to a fixed structure from a first molding position to first accessing position and a second mold carrier traveling with the first mold carrier and configured to angularly displace relative to the first mold carrier from a second molding position to a second accessing position. The first mold carrier may be pivotably coupled to the fixed structure; the second mold carrier may be slidably and rotatably coupled to the first mold carrier. A third mold carrier may be provided, and the second mold carrier may be located between the first and third mold carriers. An articulation mechanism may be provided to control relative motion of the second mold carrier relative to the first mold carrier as the first mold carrier pivots relative to the fixed structure. A method for molding articles is also provided.

    • A method and apparatus for making a lined waterproof footwear product, and footwear product formed there from, are provided. A last, having an exterior surface configured to correspond to the size and shape of the interior surface of the footwear product, is covered with a microcellular lining material. An injection mold comprises shells having a pre-determined configuration to cooperate with the exterior surface of the lining covered last to form: (i) a pre-injection cavity between the shells and the lining covered last when in position in the mold for injection molding; and, (ii) an injection cavity, defining the configuration of the footwear product, between the shells and the lining covered last when injection material is being injected into the injection cavity whereby the injection pressure causes the microcellular lining material to reconfigure the pre-injection cavity.

    • An article of footwear having a two-color rubber sole construction which includes a unitary midsole-foxing component having upper and lower lip-shaped foxing section surrounding and engaging, respectively, the lower periphery of the upper and the outer peripheral edge of an outsole component which is vulcanized to the midsole-foxing component at all points of contact therebetween, is disclosed. The rubber used for the midsolefoxing component has a higher modulus than the rubber used for the outsole component. The sole is formed in a mold cavity defined between the bottom of a last carrying a lasted upper and the top surface of a movable sole plate which has, at its end region closest to the last, a downwardly and outwardly slanted peripheral recessed side surface terminating in a peripheral transverse shoulder. The inner surface of the lower lip-shaped section of the foxing, when the same is formed upon injection of the higher modulus rubber into the mold cavity, thus has a corresponding slant, and the lower modulus rubber, when the same is injected into the cavity, is forced against the so-slanted inner surface of the lower lip-shaped foxing section. The outsole thus is formed without any intermixing of the two rubbers and with a slanted peripheral edge along which it is vulcanized to the inner surface of the lower lip-shaped foxing section. Upon subsequent trimming, the sole has a sharply defined junction line between the two rubbers at the interface of the sole components. This abstract is not to be taken either as a complete exposition or as a limitation of the present invention, however, the full nature and extent of the invention being discernible only by reference to and from the entire disclosure.
