    • A unit for picking up ceramic products or the like comprises: a tray (2) associated with a movement unit (3); a sealing and contact element (4) located at least along the perimeter of an operating wall (5) of the tray (2) and designed to work in contact with a surface (S) of the product (M); means (6) for generating a vacuum inside at least one first chamber (C) made by the operating wall (5) of the tray (2) with the inside of the tray (2) itself and in communication with a second chamber (Ce) through the operating wall (5), which is permeable; the second chamber (Ce) is delimited perimetrically according to the surface (S) of the product (M) in such a way that the above mentioned vacuum is applied to the opposite and facing surfaces of the wall (5) and of the surface (S) of the product (M), respectively, when the element (4) comes into stable contact with the surface (S) in order to pick the product up; the contact and sealing element is composed of a body (4) having controlled porosity, associated with the tray (2) and defining a part of the wall (5); the body (4) constitutes a seal which is applied to a surface (4a) making stable contact with the surface (S) of the product (M) and which is more deformable than the supporting tray (2).

    • A vacuum lifting apparatus is composed of a plurality of sideby-side elongated segments which engage an article to be lifted by collectively conforming to the surface of the article through the force of gravity. The segments are connected by a plurality of seals which project from a main plate and a resilient rim encircles the segments and seals. Tie rods extend from each segment to a common hub and are immovably clamped together after the article has been engaged, thereby locking the segments in position while defining a desired curved configuration.

    • Curved and Angular Panel Arm is an arm attachment for use with vacuum lifts that has a hinged section and a pivoting vacuum head mount. To use the preferred embodiment of Curved and Angular Panel Arm, a user attaches the arm to a vacuum lift unit using an attaching mechanism. The hinged section is then adjusted and locked into place to accommodate irregularly shaped objects using the hinge pin and clip or other locking mechanism. Finally, the vacuum pads of the pivoting vacuum head mount are placed on a designated panel or object and the vacuum lift unit is turned on, enabling the vacuum pads on the vacuum head mount to attach to the irregularly shaped panel or object.

    • A battery lift apparatus, for use with an overhead air hoist, adapted to lift and load heavy vehicle batteries into a tray of an electric powered vehicle including a rectangular-shaped carrier beam of electrically insulative plastic material, formed with a plurality of manifold passageways which, in combination with a plurality of flexible lines, provide a distribution network for supplying pressurized system air to a plurality of suction assemblies mounted on the beam. The first actuator handle is mounted by a bracket assembly supporting a valve block pair of valve unit actuators controlling up and down movement of the air hoist cable, and a pilot valve actuator is adapted for supplying vacuum releasing system air to each vacuum cup. The first handle bracket assembly, which allows rotational ergonomic adjustment of the first handle, supports the valve actuators for operation by a finger of the operator's hand gripping the first handle.

    • A vacuum lifting device is attachable to a crane and operates to lift and subsequently release a sheet of material. The device comprises a support assembly including an eyebolt at its upper end for attachment to the hook, a threaded rod and a coupling nut securing the eyebolt and rod together. The lower end of the rod is connected to a vacuum pad. A cover member is fixedly secured to the eyebolt by entrapment between the coupling nut and the eyebolt to provide a protective housing. A vacuum pump is mounted within the housing. In operation, with the device resting on the sheet and with the vacuum release valve closed, actuation of the motor switch starts the motor and vacuum pump so as to create a vacuum in the vacuum chamber whereby the sheet adheres to the vacuum pad.

    • A vacuum cup construction designed to support large items includes a planar outer plate, and a planar, generally coincidentally shaped inner plate which is smaller than the outer plate. A generally flat coincidentally shaped compressible unmolded, non-preformed sealing member, which is larger than the inner plate, is retained between the outer and inner plates by a threaded stud and a threaded nut connecting the outer and inner plates, the tightening of which compresses the sealing member. Compression of the sealing member causes the periphery to deform and form a sealing edge. A vacuum passage passes through the outer plate, the sealing member, and the inner plate to permit a vacuum to be drawn when the assembly is placed against the surface of an item or object.
